at the time it looked like trouble but we hadn't seen his ridiculous powers of recovery at that stage. i'd say yes.

he made those adjustments in the 2nd, unless you reckon gg chose to not put him on his arse again. and you've already stated he wasn't reckless v aa and kessler 2 (i'd contend that recklessness v gg is the exception, not the rule), there's little point in me contradicting you if you're gonna do it yourself.

again, without struggling from the kd what does he need to do differently?

He was reckless in the 2nd kessler fight. Just not as reckless.

Groves had put a lot in to the 1st round round. I think it was partly groves lifting slightly but also sheer determination that saw Froch have a better round 2 rather than him making ajustments. He got nailed by right hands throughout the fight so I would question his ajustments.

What does he need to do differently?

Defend against the right hand better.

    Enter the ring less nervous.

    Throw the jab with conviction.

I could be wrong but I suspect he will fail in all of these for at least the first 3 rounds.

Everything. Even before the KD Groves was outboxing him handily, winning the jab exchanges, landing right hands and frustrating Froch to the point where he lunged in like a caveman and got sent to the canvas. The KD in the first round probably hindered Groves more than it helped him, he smelt blood and spent the rest of the fight looking for the KO instead of letting it come naturally. It threw him off his gameplan and drew him into a needless tear up.

Sadly for Froch theres little to nothing he can do to adapt to Groves superior skillset and attributes.

He's still the same guy with the same skills, got a feeling he's going to train alot harder for this one though both physically and mentally!

he was disciplined in early rounds v kessler 2.

he was caught with that gg right hand repeatedly but didn't drop, i don't accept it was because gg eased off. he'll fight differently, because he won't be caught like that again.

I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree on this, I have been involved in boxing since i was young and have learnt that you can never tell what will happen next in this sport and people saying that it was a forgone conclusion that Froch would have won regardless because of what he has done in the past doesn't really make me think any different. Carl has been in hard fights for a long time and that coupled with his age means he could well be on the slide and for that reason only I can't see why people can guarantee that he was going to win!!

As for your quote about the crystal ball and book!! I don't think that any sport can be looked at as easy as reading a book where the ending has already been decided!!

Tyson vs Buster Douglas, Junior Jones Vs Barrera, Corrales vs Castillo Lewis vs Rahman and Lewis vs Mccall These are all boxing matches where if it were a book then there would never have been the results that actually happened!!

How often in football do teams written off win matches and tournaments? Liverpool vs AC Milan Champions League final, Porto winning Champions league, Greece/ Denmark winning European Championships!!

That's why we love sport because there can never be absolute guarantees!!

George has stamina issues but can punch, Froch has great stamina, an iron will and will try expose Georges stamina issues!! I just hope we get a ******* of a fight and that as a fan we get a proper decision without any controversy

    Nervous and Reckless ?

Feeling nervous isn't a handicap, and allowing adrenaline to flood your sysyem isn't always a bad thing. Its a natural reaction in a "fight or flight" scenario. EVERY fighter is nervous, but some are better than others at hiding the visual signs of nerves.

Froch isn't reckless, he was comfortable keeping groves on the end of the jab and out of range during the early part of the round, he landed a right hand that got groves attention, and then did what he always does and tried to follow up the attack. He dropped his hands looking for a big shot and walked onto a big punch. The punch knocked him back, and blurred his sense's momentarily. Froch was conscious half way down as he tried to break his fall. He was hurt and shaky legged, but he was never unconscious or on ***** street as some people would have us believe.

Groves then spent the next 7 rounds throwing everything at Froch, so why wasn't he able to drop an already shaky legged Froch later in the fight ?

Froch will not be reckless in the rematch unless he has a clear opening, and i guarantee Groves will be just as nervous, probably more so, because he's the one that has to backup his boasts, and justify his protests after the first fight.

i'm talking in terms of likelihoods, not foregone conclusions. i don't think the rematch will be as good, and though a groves win wouldn't be a shock, i don't see it.

one thing froch needs to change is his jab... if he gets his jab going like he did against kessler... could be a long night for groves...

we'll never find out how it would've gone, just how the rematch goes.

undecided between a couple of mates' yards and the pub, but enjoy!

He didn't get his jab going to like he did against Kessler because Groves didn't allow him too.

One thing about Groves is that he has a very very good jab. Quick, sharp and snappy - Froch isn't going to win the jab exchanges with Groves.

Exactly, froch couldnt use the same jab against GG. I think this fight will not be as explosive as the 1st. Froch will be more cagey in the opening rounds and keep a distance, GG will be more discipline and will try to win rounds with his fast jabs and 1-2 in then out. He will not get into a swinging match with froch for sure, and then it will be fab to see how the championship rounds turns out!
