hi guys i have put a small break in the top of one of my main front teeth the other day sparring (with a gumshield!) i was told i will have to get my tooth replaced more then likely because of the break in the tooth it will probably die... im not so bothered about it but the pain from the nerve is terrible, im meant to be boxing on saturday, never had to pull out of a match in 26 bouts but im not sure what to do, if i could have it whipped out i would but im guessing its too close to fight night now to have it removed??

anyway my main question is has any of you guys boxed with capped teeth is it gonna be strong enough or is there a better solution? i dont wanna get it done and get the bugger kocked out every time i fight! especially for the money its gonna cost (£450 i was told today!) :patsch

I made an appointment with my doctor for back pain to get a referral, the receptionist said " next available opponent is at the end of July. " and this is in NYC, it's already getting horrible.

If you can take the pain then go for it.

If the tooth is going to have to be removed just fight as it is and get it sorted after. Or.....find a nice dark place on a street somewhere with a raised paving stone and sue the council for landing on your face after a trip.

i had one of my teeth capped since a kid- knocked out playing rugby.
My 2nd fight i had the cap knocked out (took a jab to it, good shot my opponent haha), it went behind my gumshield and into the back of my gum- i was winning the fight til the 3rd round blatantly- i tried jabbing and moving backwards to spit my gumshield and the tooth out- hoping the ref would pause the fight for a few seconds- when i turned my head to spit out gumshield he stopped the fight! i was SLIGHTLY pissed off to say the least.

fights since i have never had a problem with it- i think ive just been lucky not to take another direct punch to the teeth since!

moral of story- if you love the sport more than your face and teeth- then dont worry about it **** happens!
