I'd love to see Levit turn pro, he had a great year in the WSB & is now one of my favourite fighters to watch.
Yeleussinov vs Iglesias is a dream fight. Both guys were light welters, Iglesias won the Olympic and World championships on that weight. Yeleussinov moved up, become Asian champion and then impressively won the World championships, and just recently Roniel moved up to welter too. Iglesias still can't claim to be the best welterweight until he becomes the champion, and Yeleussinov is currently holding the title. Yeleussinov didn't notably participate the WSB, made only 1 appearance I believe (although it was an impressive performance), so he pretty much skipped the competition, while Iglesias dominated the competition and is currently #1 rated welter in the WSB. Hopefully they will face each other in World championships in Qatar in next year, or maybe even in the next WSB season if they both participate the league. Either way it's one of the best and most anticipated fights to happen in the sport right now.
i dont think you can say that Yeleussinov is better just becasue his world champion, Iglesias wasnt allowed go to the world championships by Cuba. Cubas second string fighter got the silver and gave yeleussinov a good fight id put Iglesias as the number 1 welterweight
Dychko has only been stopped one time that I am aware of, and it was the gold medal match vs the best amateur puncher. He was in the lead prior to getting nailed. I agree he will need to learn how to clinch if he goes pro, but I do not think his chin is a huge question mark.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't favor Iglesias to win if they were to fight, I'm just saying that you can't claim that he's the best until he actually proves it and become the champion himself. I'd slightly favor Roniel, but by no means would he be a clear favorite. Yes, Cuba penalized him and I couldn't believe that he missed the World championships, but it is what it is. He was clearly the best light welter and I would probably favor him over everyone at welter right now, even Yeleussinov, but Daniyar remains the champion until someone else claims that title. Iglesias and Despaigne are currently rated #1 and #2 welters in WSB, both have perfect records in the competition so far (Iglesias fights home matches, Despaigne away ones) and I also believe that Roniel is the better of the two. However, the way Yeleussinov walked though the World championships was amazing. He pretty much schooled everyone prior to the finals and then comfortably defeated Despiagne in the final match, beaten him to the punch, I myself wasn't expecting that. Like I said, Yeleussinov vs Igleseas is one of the best (if not the best) fights that could happen today. Welter champion versus light welter champion and Olympics winner, both incredible technicians with great skills and reflexes, you can't get any better than that.
he has a herky jerky style. boucing around like that, he has no choice but to use volume. he doesn't sit on his feet long enough to generate any real power. good for the point system...not good for pro boxing. spence seemed overwhelmed and is a much better fighter now than what we see in this video.
isnt that what Ali did before his lay off used to do, bounce around on his toes, threw lots of punches with not that much power ? how has Spence improved since then? could it be he just looks better because his fighting worse opposition
good points but you cant take who the champion is in as the best, if that was the case Lomachenko wasnt even the best lightweight in erope because he didnt enter the tournament since 2008. Im just saying who i would take as the best, same way i think Robeisy Ramirez is the best bantemweight in the world even though he didnt win the world championship anyway i hope both these guys go pro they could both be great
Well I agree, but in this situation it's not like Roniel is clearly better than the champion. So far Yeleussinov proved to be undoubtedly the best welter, and there is a question mark now when Iglesias has arrived, so I guess that we will need to wait and see who is the now best, we can assume that Iglesias would maybe be the better, but realistically it's Yeleussinov who has more of a claim. It's surely one of the most anticipated matches in a long time. About Ramirez, if I remember well, he should of have defeated that Kazakh boxer but it were the judges that scored the fight wrong. He is also currently rated #1 bantam in the world in AIBA rankings by far, so it's not really the same case to what we have in the welter division.
u can't compare what this guy is doing to ali. that's blasphemy. spence is sparring world class talent these days and has improved tremendously since this video.
im not comparing them but there styles are similar and Ali was suited to the pro game so whats the differance. How has he improved though?that was my question,he hasnt faced anyone as good as Sapiyev since turning pro so its hard to tell if his got better?
he's more settled in his style. he's not boxing for points anymore...he's boxing for stoppages. the point system when they fought in that match is useless in the pros. i'd be willing to bet the house that spence would stop him now. he's a grown man now. he was a child then. i'll agree he's not fought a high level of opposition in the pro ranks yet...but that will come in time. again...he's sparring floyd mayweather and other high level pros. has sapiyev been doing the same? how's his pro career coming along? is he pro?
do you seriously take them AIBA rankings seriously there a complete joke, still Ramirez got robbed ,Iglesias didnt even get to compete so its the same scenario iv seen AIBA still rank guys a year after turning pro, Gvodyk is still ranked, Niyazymbetov is ranked above De La Cruz and Joe Ward is ranked 9th ffs and thats just currently at one weight division how messed up it is. Erislandy Savon is ranked 16th and most people would have him as the best heavyweight in amatuer boxing
