Does FOTC Frazier swarm Louis? These are 2 of my favourite boxers and I really rate Louis, but does Frazier have the right style for success?
Id lean slightly toward Joe Louis but Im not that certain about it. Frazier would be susceptible to Louis`s power and precision early in the fight. Smokin Joe took a few rounds to build his tempo and The Brown Bomber might not let him off the hook. The longer the bout goes the better Frazier`s chances are in my opinion. If Smokin Joe can get under Louis`s shots and force him back on his heels he can take away leverage and probably hurt Joe Louis with his lefthook. Two punchers either man can hurt the other. If pinned down I`ll take Joe Louis but I wouldnt wager too much on it.
I think it's honestly a toss up. Young prime frazier could very well score a late stoppage or a decision victory. But, on the other hand I could see joe louis knocking him out at any time. I really can't find myself giving and edge to either of them. Louis would certainly be nailing frazier all night with powerful uppercuts, and the fight could go similar to how Louis fought Godoy.
Don't be silly here boys. According to all the self appointed experts ( McFay ) in particular, Joe Louis was quite capable of manhandling and " one punch " KO' ing guys as big, or bigger than Lennox Lewis. Therefore there can be no debate. Joe Louis with consummate ease.
good point. At the same time it took Louis a rematch to really open up Godoy and knock him out. I gotta admit the Galento fight gives me some reason to wonder how Joe Louis would handle somebody as good as Frazier in that style. Maybe Joe Louis had an off night or that shorter Pitbull type brawler/pressure fighter just gives him trouble.
After the first debacle against the crouching Godoy, Blackburn schooled Louis in throwing uppercuts with either hand. He beat the **** out of Godoy in the rematch I think he stops Frazier. But a great tear up!
Why you're making me famous Foxy ,I'm touched. As to the statement I made, why don't you test out its veracity by making a thread asking the forum if they agree ,or disagree that Joe Louis was capable of koing men as big or bigger than Lennox Lewis?
Hmmm, i get the feeling Frazier would be in trouble here, because hed be constantly walking into Louis hooks and uppercuts, not a smart thing to do. All depends on how Frazier handles Louis' power. I see a Chisora-Haye type scenario myself.
Frazier has a chance if the fight takes place before the first Godoy fight. I still like Louis because Frazier was a slow starter. I think Joe Louis wins handily post the first Godoy having learned his lesson. Blackburn was a master teacher and Louis was a sponge with an incredible ring IQ. No greater evidence than his record in return matches. Pure domination.
I'll second this...Louis early, but if it goes past seven, Frazier's chances get better and better. Would lean towards Joe Louis.
Two of my all-time favorites, but for this one I have to pick Joe Louis. I believe his power, hand speed, and pinpoint accurate punching would be a bad match for Frazier. Frazier may be able to duck, bob, and weave his way out of trouble for a while, but he would be right in front of Louis the whole time. This should be an action-packed battle while it lasts. I pick Louis by an early-round stoppage.
All the facts lead me to pick Louis, but all the unknowns pull me in the other direction. Such is the nature of stylistic matches!
