This is actually a pick'em fight.

And the OP mentioned two fighters of same weight class, so he probably wasn't thinkin' Foster-Monzon.

Tyson-Fitzsimmons might turn out to be like Tyson SPinks in which Spinks got immediately steamrolled. It was better than Frazier Foster

I dont agree with Hearns Walcott or Spinks Hagler being mismatches tho being that smaller guys like Weston could crowd Tommy and hagler was able to take down much bigger fighters (in his prime) quickly

Yes. Now this I agree with. Finesse would do no good here. PLUS, Roy has an edge in power

Could Monzon cope with the blazing fast right leads of Jones? Many seemed to have a problem with his style as Roy consistntly threw off their timing and beat them to the punch

I agree that Jones would start as favourite in this one but It's a bit strong to say it's a mismatch, imo.

Sorry, but this is a shocking start. Two very similarly styled fighters. Both are devastating in close and both love to use the shift, which seems to be a forgotten art.

Fitzsimmons has a slight advantage in height and reach which is a bigger advantage when you remember that he uses his straight punching a fair bit more than tyson.

Tyson was a tremendously quick fighter and never really got the chance to prove himself against other fighters quicker than himself. Fitzsimmons, given his KO Record and the fact that speed was more important in those days and he is a much lighter fighter, you would think would be as quick or quicker than Tyson, given him a second stylistic advantage.

Obviously, a big hitter against the smallest to ever hold the heavy title has the potential of a mismatch, but if this was the line of thinking, surely you would use someone who has more of a stylistic advantage, such as Lennox or Foreman. Maybe even Wlad, Vitali, Bowe, Carnera or Max Baer could be better choices, not that i would necessarilly pick all of those.

So far as mismatches go, it is impossible to go past Liston v Patterson (if hes an all time great) or if not, Foreman vs Frazier. if forced to pick a certain result, with my life dependin on it, i think i would go with Foreman v Burns.

I'll never get used to seeing Patterson considered an ATG.
