Johnny Nelson does okay, but there are times when there is almost a silence and that comes across as very amateurish. And as someone mentioned it can be painful to watch and ruins the flow of the conversation.

I've said it before - Nelson does best in the studio AFTER a fight. That's when he is at his best.

When he is reading from an auto-cue or presenting he seems to act American and fluff his lines up.

Unscripted Johnny is the best by far.

That whole 'salivating' thing on ringside made me squirm.

you see, all sky sports presenters have to fit what they see as professional sounding.
the people there who pick nelson for his role arent clued up on boxing like some posters on a forum here are.....they are playing to the masses...the casual sports fan......they will look at nelson and think he sounds good and looks well....they wont go into it any more than that.
all sky sports presenters will have the same sound to their voices...the same presentation style...all part of the overall package, which nelson fits perfectly....an ex boxing champion too which fills all the boxes for sky.....but again, they are catering for the masses...the casual fans moreso that the minority, the hard core boxing fans.
if you stuck al bernstien on sky sports as a presenter or pundit or commentator, he would stick out like a sore thumb...he wouldnt fit the overall package presentation of the channels...sky have their own presenters, trained by themselves, styled in the sky way.

How you ever wondered, how many former world champions would make good TV presenters? I don't think there are that many who are well spoken, disciplined, reliable, clean-tongued, charismatic, can recall many of the biggest fights going back 20-30 years, are respected by other boxers etc etc.

For me, Johnny Nelson is great as a presenter. I really cannot understand anyone wanting to single him for criticism.

    Erm because he can't speak.

He pretty much struggles with every fooking sentence that comes out of his mouth.

He's a good presenter for a boxer, but why have a boxer who struggles to put together a coherent sentence as a presenter?

If he was just commentating on the fights afterwards, no problems you can get away with the fact you can't speak well, but presenting a show is a different ball game.

Some of you in favour of Nelson must be thick as **** and can't speak properly yourselves.

But he doesn't sound good at all, he can't speak properly. Sounds like he's got a set of spanners in his mouth.

Well it's a **** way of doing things because they are paying someone to present a show who can't fooking speak properly. Which is why I made this thread.
