It doesn't help Johnny when everything is rehearsed and scripted these days. I mean go back and listen to Johnny on the Friday fight nights he was a totally different animal to what he is today. In the last few years it's looked like Johnny's had a brain transplant by Sky as they're trying to brainwash the viewer into believing their Matchroom product is the best in the world, so Johnny's been told to keep his opinions to himself and just do what he's told, but acting clearly isn't Johnny's strong point and he just comes across now fake and full of shite spouting processed garbage. It's a shame really for Johnny as he was a great fighter who is very knowledgeable about boxing :-(
yes...that sums it up i think. kind of like barry mcguigan....when he started out as a commentator on a channel called 'screensport'....a great great channel for boxing in early 90s...he was superb, he really was a great commentator.....when he went to do work for sky he changed dramatically.
also...its kind of like news interviewers....on all the main channels.....i notice when they are doing interviews, they are like nodding dogs...all of them...when a person is speaking, even if its something that the interviewer isnt agreeing with, or the line of question isnt in agreement, they still do that 'nod' every two seconds....keep nodding like you agree......it must be very off-putting i imagine for the person being interviewed..........just another example of the way these people are trained.
'Ugly kid is GASSED, John!' Johnny loves it! Groves always pulls him up on it, which I do think is fair play.
No mate, believe me... His voice is OK, as in no speech impediment but he literally cannot string words together in a sentence without fumbling and fooking his words up. Irritating to watch for me like.
If it isnt Nelson. it's Jim Watt, If it isnt Jim Watt it's Adam Smith...they are sportmen (most) not natural presenters / commentators but they know there stuff from being involved in the game. Whoever it is someone will ***** about it.
Like I said, no problem with Nelson commenting on fights, but presenting a fooking TV show. What the **** are they thinking... hahaha Don't know how many uncomfortable silences and fook ups he made over the weekend. It was fooking crap.
What a **** thread from a sad ***** :deal What have you done with your life, hater? Shitty thread get a life
Ill second that. He also did some work on the BBC on a magazine show and was great. Hardly a boxing related item on it,either.
I don't usually mind him, but his tweets this morning were unprofessional. Grinning like a Cheshire cat while taking a sneeky photo of McDonnell's opponent trying to cut some last minute weight. He's supposed to be impartial.
Comes across a decent bloke, fun loving and all that but my oh my does he **** Ringside up asking the most stupid ****ing questions time and again.
