We will never know, because there were fights that didnt happen, but I think several fighters would have beaten him - Benn, Eubank, Calzaghe, Collins, Erdei, Michalczewski, Tiozzo, Maske are few I can think of
You must be the only one that think those guys could have beaten him. I mean even Chris Eubank didnt think Chris Eubank could beat prime Roy Jones! Nigel Benn once said, "I dont mind being considered no/2 to Roy Jones"
With Jones abysmal Glass Jaw there are several ATG's from 160-175 that would have KOed him in brutal and embarrassing fashion. Won't even discuss Heavyweight because that is pointless. Jones didn't make History either. Lennox Lewis was THE champion. Jones fought John Ruiz. Roy didn't do the same thing that Fitzsimmons and Spinks did. :nono
I really wasn't going to get involved in this, but ERDEI? COLLINS? Ha! Steve Collins could never have beaten Roy at his Peak. Never. His claim to fame was beating Eubank, who should have had three losses on his resume at that point, and a washed up Benn, who should never have come back after the loss to Malinga. Grit and determination can only take a guy so far. Collins couldn't have lived with Roy's speed at 168.
Gerald McClellan had the power to take Roy out with 1 punch . But then again he had the power to take anyone out so....
Roy beating Lennox would have been a FAR greater win than Fitz over Corbett and Spinks over past it Holmes.. At least Fitz and Spinks had realistic chances... We have been over this.
We have also been over how Roy handpicked Johnny Ruiz and how his Chin simply wouldn't hold up to ATG's between 160-175. He wouldn't be fighting Glen Kelly, Richard Hall or Rich Frazier. Additionally, Jones resume doesn't stack up to other ATG's in those same weight classes either way too many missed fights.
Probably no one in his prime. Anything less than his absolute best and Joe Calzaghe gives him a real challenge. Joe had the speed to bother Jones but I don't see him beating a prime 28 year old Jones.
At 168, I can't think of anyone. At 160 I would give Hagler, Monzon and Ray Robinson a very good chance. At 175, Charles,Spinks, Foster and Archie Moore definitely and Qawi more than likely.
I said "a few others" in my earlier post . . . let make this clear I would not be foolish enough to list this f'n crap. None and I mean NONE of these fighters stood a chance and would not or could not beat a PRIME RJJ. The only fighter that could have beaten him at the time he already beat Toney.
