No, cotto is a great little fighter but by no means a step up. Sergio is going to spank his a$$

I'd say yes and no, yes to the extent that Cotto is the most decorated and accomplished fighter Martinez has been in with. Yet at the same time no because Martinez has had physically tougher fights on paper. Saying that though Cotto is a HOFer and if he wins would arguably be an ATG nobody Martinez has been in with to this point are that level.

Pound for pound maybe. But I have a feeling Cotto being the smaller guy will feel the power of Sergio. This fight is not about two equally skilled boxers fighting but about a good big boxer fighting a good small boxer.

People really underrate the Paul Williams fights for Martinez. Paul Williams was one of the most avoided fighters. He beat Margarito in his prime. I don't think it's a stretch to think that Williams could've beaten Cotto in their primes. Either way, I think Martinez is a little bit past his prime and perhaps Cotto is as well. So maybe that will make this fight more competitive.

They are both past it at this stage of their careers so anyone has a good chance really. I expect Martinez to show up the best he possibly could considering it's his very first PPV.

Out of those three ATG of yours...I would say William's is the better.

Didn't Martinez fight Pavlik after Hopkins broke his spirit?

Chavez Jr. excuse me while I laugh!!!

Trout fight....Cotto was not in it mentally from the beginning. One of the reasons he left Pedro.

If you want to compare bad past performances why do you not remember how Margarita pummelled Martinez with body shots and literally manhandled him only to KO him in later rounds!!!

    A slow fisted Margarita!!!!!!!!!

Williams was in the P4P Top 10 when Maravilla fought him. Cotto is not.

Yet Pavlik was a solid favorite going into that fight. Got to love ******s that pretend they knew it all when a fight is over with and the result is available for their viewing pleasure.

He was using fights that happened in the last 5 years...not 14 years ago when Sergio had only been boxing (at all) for 5 years.

I don't know about that. PW did get schooled by Lara and Quintana. I've never seen Cotto get out boxed like that except in the Mayweather fight...

Skill wise I agree. Cotto is a step up for Sergio. But not when you get done factoring in size and styles into this match. This fight is all about whether or not Sergio is shot.

I would disagree with this. Cotto has *never* held a lineal title in the whole of his career at any weight he's competed in. What then exactly are his accomplishments? Getting the benefit of the doubt against Shane Mosley? Beating up on what was left of Antonio Margarito? KO'ing the ironed chinned Zab Judah? What has he really done?

He's probably the most skillful and experienced fighter Martinez has fought, he also has decent power and speed. Could be an interesting fight.
