Discuss in my opinion it was and im a big fan of both guys just to many things didnt add up like Hopkins just b4 the 9th round saying "its my round" Nazeem shouting "Body Shot" in the same round the lack of contact from both, Hopkins signing with Golden boy shortly after.

I think it was fixed. It was like a sparring session for 8 rounds, no punches with bad intentions and then a mild body shot and thats it and they make hell of a lot of money and DLH wasnt busted up and his career was saved anyways.

i watched the fight this morning funnily enough&it is suspect, oscars reaction wasnt that of a guy that got hit with a fight ending bodyshot, the punch didnt look that hurtful&his reaction looked somewhat acted,im not saying it was a fix,but im not saying it wasnt either.my final verdict on it would be that it was VERY questionable.

I wouldn't say it was a "fix". DLH just didn't get up although I think he could. He cheated the fans by not facing the punishment.

No, although De La Hoya had a lot of success early in the fight he was having trouble keeping away from Hopkins a few rounds before the knock down.

No it wasn't a fix. What did Oscar have to gain by lying down? He was really trying to win that fight, and I think in his own mind he was doing a pretty good job. Despite the scores, I thought that fight was close. The bottom line is that Oscar bit off more than he could chew weight-wise and it caught up with him. He was hit by a shot that he didn't see coming and it obviously hit him just right. I found the reaction to be genuine, as was his disappointment and frankness in the interview afterwards. I think it was sort of like Fitzsimmons and Corbett - he just got caught with the right punch late in the fight after all the tension of the early rounds had him just a bit drained. He could just have easily gone on to a decision loss if the fight was fixed. He didn't need to take a dive, nor would that have helped his legacy. I truly felt Oscar was disappointed, embarrassed, and surprised at how he went out.

This talk of a fix is just nonsense. You're talking about two of the great fighters of our time - with one getting closer and closer to being considered an all-time-great.

Another post about this by someone who obviously has never taken a liver shot.

    Stupid thread.
There are three or four drop them body punches, that was one of them.
It was no more a fix than Fitz vs Corbett.

No fix, the punch landed clean from the current Light Heavyweight champ, but there is a big possibility DLH could have gone up and avoided a real KO.

If one takes a look at the rest of the fight when DLH landed his left hook it did nothing and then got countered by a heavy right hand right on his nose you could see his face of frustration.

    :patsch :patsch :patsch

I've got a great solution for you guys to dedide whether it was fixed/DLH took a dive etc or not.....

Just contact Mr. Richard Schaefer GBP CEO that you want to be a sparring partner for Mr. Bernard Hopkins for free, and just ask Mr. Hopkins to hit your liver with the same punch he KO'd DLH (that' Mr. Oscar De La Hoya for you)... only he has to hit harder if you are bigger than the Golden Boy to be fair.

-If you can get up in 10 sec., it was a fix, DLH is a fraud etc. etc.
-If you can't get up, haha, I'm more than happy to hear your story how good it feels to get brutally KO'd via a body punch. Just some won't believe you and say you took a dive as well...

Some people never learn. Of course the Hatton vs. Castillo, Jones vs. Hill, Cotto vs. Quintana, and Margarito vs. Cintron fights were fixed, so you better open a thread and add a poll for those fights as well... I'm quite sure some think if you've got a great chin, you can't be knocked out. How can you get KO'd if you've got a great chin?

These punches were very different than the one DLH took. Also, Castillo, Hill and Cintron were not screaming, rolling and overreacting the way Oscar was. Probably because they were really hurt.

sure it was fixed before de la hoya lost to sturm :deal:

honestly, no matter whether it was fixed or not, i dont even necessarily think so, but dlh and hopkins are 2 fully suspect persons. great fighters, all time greats, blablabla, they're both ****s.
i like hopkins' destructive style and his whole attitude. i'm no one to hate on that.. but still people need to be objective enough to recognize that despite being a fantastic athlete, he's too intelligent and cold blooded to be only that. he knows how to manage himself properly and no way he lets any kind of honour or whatever people wanna call it stand in his way. same goes for de la hoya, with some minor differences.
