    And why not exactly?

Who did DM ever fight that compared to Roy Jones in terms of speed and power?

People said he couldnt stop Hill either.

Malinga was considered iron chinned as well untill Jones knocked him around the ring.

-Watch prime Hagler, not the older slugger in the Hearns and Sugar Ray fights. Very fast hands and he certainly had more proven power at that weight. The Hagler of the Minter fight.

-So what exactly is the point of your statement then? Jones in the classical sense was a LHW from the age of 25 until the Ruiz fight. He was never going to have a long career at MW.

Say what you want about Ruiz, but could you imagine DM going up and immediately beating him?

Ill ask again, who did DM ever fight with Jones power and speed?

Knowing the answer to that, what makes you think Jones couldnt stop him?

    More proven power at 160?

Did you see Jones KO ratio back then?

-What else? Hagler only fought at 160.

-I don't care, Jones only spent about 4 years in the divison and only had about two fights with world class opponents. Hagler ruled the divison for about 8 years.

You're an adult with a juvenile opinion thats why I address you in that manner. At the time Jones beat Toney Toney was a top 2 on the pound for pound list, something DM never came close to reaching. There is noting you can say DM does better Technically than Toney.
As for Guillermo, at the time I debated you Jones was cleared after a B sample of his pee test came out clean. You see when I accuse someone of doing something wrong, I like to have evidence to back it up. At the time you accused Jones of Juicing he was found to be actually clean.

Honestly, nobody that was around at the time he was in his prime. Just too good.

It has everything to do with your statement...

A win on paper is not always all there is to the story.

Example.. Fighter A goes life and death with fighter C, but gets a unanimous dec.

Fighter B wipes the floor with fighter C, and is also awarded a unanimous dec.

In my opinion, fighter B was more successful than fighter A against fighter C, even though they both were awarded the dec.

DM would have never beat Jones. He struggled with anyone decent he ever fought. No indication he would have fared any better than guys like Hall, Hill, Gonzales, did against Roy.

I am strictly debating that DM was not as successful as Jones with common opponents.

Prime Hagler was impressive no doubt.. But I think Roy has more proven power, as he has hurt a HW and stopped MWs, SMWs and LHWs, with one shot. Roy clearly was faster IMO.

My point of the statement was simply that without the option of 168, I believe we would have seen Roy at MW a bit longer, and racked up a better MW resume.

    -No ****.

-That's not arguing success, that's arguing degrees of success, which was not the point of my statement which was a deliberate blanket to avoid arguing each individual fight. At the end of the day, they came way with identical records against the same grouping of opponents. Who looked prettier, won the most rounds, or scored the fastest knockout is not the point. I wasn't arguing DM over Jones, but making a case for him as a worthy challenge.

I don't know, Hagler was more proven in the sense that he stopped better fighters and beat much better opposition, but Jones's speed and power did serious damage to normally durable fighters.

Jones was more explosive with his power, particularly the left hook, while Hagler had heavy hands. Tate never got stopped in his whole career except for RJJ, and that just took one hook.

It would be an interesting matchup. Hagler was far more experienced, by the time he peaked, probably the Sibson fight, he had 60 pro fights. Roy had way less experience against world class opposition, although he did beat B-Hop when both guys were still improving. Hagler had one of the best southpaw jabs ever, and RJJ really didn't get his experience against lefties until after leaving 160. Jones was naturally bigger though, faster of both feet and hand, and unpredictable. In a way, not being the most fundamentally sound sometimes worked to his advantage, at least when he was younger. It made him tougher to prepare for and predict what he did.

You said Jones wasnt stopping DM, im asking you where you get that assumption from.

Malinga has a great chin, Hill had never been stopped.

And Ruiz is not irrelevant in teh grand scheme. What would have happened if DM had went in against Ruiz.

As for who ranked higher, thats debateable.
    Tarver? Gonzalez?

Its all a matter of when guys fight. Jones beat a number of guys that may well have beaten DM if he had fought them.

DM never fought Tarver, Johnson(either of them),Woods, he fought Gonzalez and lost.

Who is to say how far DM would have went if he fought the calibre of opponent Jones did.

Gerald would've tested that weak chin. Had the ref not given Benn that long count that fight would've happened and Mcclellan could've very well have KO'd him.
