I don't remember protesting other than I thought Jones had more success than DM over the common opponent.:think

Does Toney not have the power to KO a glass jawed MW moving up to face him?

Jones didn't have to have a plan B usually.. But in the Griffin match he adjusted and started landing his right hand at will, which caused Griffin to go down.

    Why would it hurt?
Its hard to give 3 as many could have differing opinions.
    I would possibly say
Eubank as one of them. A legend with and at that time the best SMW resume ever, only second now to Calzaghe.
Hopkins also a legend who was reigning LHW champ.
The next one is debateable but I think I would go with Kessler as an undefeated 39-0 unified world champ.

Not sure what you think hurts there when no active SMW today has any wins as good as any of those and even now with Hopkins he has no wins in any weight division as good as undefeated Kessler or Eubank and Calzaghe has both and the Hopkins win

Who was closer to the end of their career? Answer Calzaghe
Imperial picked Jones at the time and now tries to imply he thought otherwise and was just a Jones fan
Imperial included. Just have a read through the thread back at the time and how Imperial didnt think Jones was that faded

Yes when you are fighting Glen Kelly, Richard Hall and Rich Frazier you don't need one. When you are fighting Hagler, Foster, Monzon, Spinks, Charles, Tunney, Patterson, Moorer, etc you are going to need one. That is my point.

He didn't need one vs. Hopkins or Toney.

You just see a guy with power and assume he would knock Roy out.. You don't take into account how hard it was to load up and connect with a clean power shot on Roy.. Also, his blinding speed threw timing off, you don't seem to account for that either.. Not to mention, Roy had power himself, he could end your night with a body shot.

Just don't have faith in Roy when matched with people like I listed. All it takes in one punch. Those guys had skills it is not like they were flat footed face first crude brawlers. They were not Otis Grant. Totally different level there. Lou Del Valle managed to put Roy down. I am more than sure the ones I listed could. Not saying Jones would lose to every single one of them but I think he gets Chinned in more fights than he wins. Jones simply didn't have Boxing skills he relied on athletic ability alone which is fine against Class B and C fighters.

His wins against Toney & Hopkins are ridiculously good.

To clarify what I was addressing which somehow didn't work.

No, you were protesting my opinion of Hagler/Jones tooth and nail for several pages but if you deny that now, I really can't be bothered.
