Yes. It was REALLY a robbery. Whitaker schooled him by a VERY clear margin.

Whitaker won, there is no doubt in my mind.
If you really like Chavez style, you would still have at least 115-113 Whitaker.

I LITERALLY see no way for this fight ot even be a draw... I had whitaker winning 8 to 4 and I thought giving JCC 4 rounds was generous. I think the Ramirez fight was worse in that I thought Whitaker won with more easy and by a wider margin. The Chavez fight was worse because them robbing him of that kinda victory over that kinda fighter was worse then taking it away from beating Ramirez

Unless you get up in the morning to a chant of "Chavez, Chavez, Rah Rah Rah," then it was a robbery. Chavez was completely stymied and actually outfought comprehensively on the inside as well as outside. There's no way Whitaker didn't win that fight going away.

Whitaker should have got a win but it wasn't the one-sided schooling so many people make it out to be. If they had given it to Chavez it would have been a robbery. But a draw was just a bit off.

None of the judges actually gave it to Chavez. Two called it a draw, one called it for Whitaker. It was all a bit biased towards Chavez perhaps, and that's bad, but it wasn't terrible by the standards of this business.

I don't listen to the commentators. They talk crap.

I thought Frankie Randall was robbed worse in the Chavez rematch.

...and those judges collectively scored it a draw :deal

I remember thinking that Pernell should have won though. I haven't watched it in at least 15 years, I'll watch it again and get back with you.

Ask Max Kellerman who he thinks won... you may walk away thinking Sweet Pea knocked him out.

    when watching the fight
    yes
sweet pea showed great angles and made chavez go off balance with great
    footwork-angles etc

but you cant say he won just based on this
just like you cant say the same about chavez always going forward and bringing the fight to him.

my point is that most boxing judging is based on punches LANDED

I've never seen the fight and don't have time to watch it now but how does this draw compare to 2 controversial draws that are well known?

    I'm talking Hagler-Antuofermo 1 and Leonard-Hearns 2.

Those were also hotly disputed. For the Whitaker boosters here, was his draw more of a robbery than the ones mentioned above?
