    I don't think Trout was hype since he just came off a victory off of Cotto but I believe that Canelo and Lara skills was too much for him. Canelo didn't expose Trout since there was nothing to expose since Trout was not as hyped as Canelo. I do agree about trout not winning against any of the top 154 fighters which I think he should just move up and start fresh. I would hate for a humble guy like trout to become a gate keeper in his division but sometimes boxing is like that.

    Canelo didn't school him. Controversy of that fight is obvious. Open scoring has clearly forced Trout to be front foot heavy, sometimes even reckless. And even with the knockdown it was close as Canelo was too inactive. I think Trout was the better man that night even with all the odds against him. His career isn't over. But he's the high risk/low reward type of fighter so he'll have it hard.

    Trout clearly, comfortably, beat Cotto yet people are excited about the Martinez fight. He outfought him in the pocket and on the inside beating Cotto at his own game but he deserves a shot at the MW title because he won against Rodriguez :roll:

    Trout is a top JMW but not an elite fighter like some people were making him out to be. He comes in the ring over 170lbs and could be a MW but i wouldn't advise moving up don't think he would have much success even at the contender level. Guys like Stevens, Tureano Johnson, Jacobs, Rubio would beat him.

    Career not over...

    Trout = Gatekeeper

    Good thing about being a gatekeeper is some good wins can get him back in there.

    Trout beat Canelo. I watched that fight in Mexico and the Mexicans were scared as **** when it was time to read the cards. Everybody in the room knew Trout won.
    That being said Lara whupped that ass , so his career may still be on the downside.

    how did canelo get a gift ? he beat him clearly, and the ONLY reason it was somewhat close was due to open scoring.

    when you know you are up 4 points with 2/3 rounds left you ease up. **** he knew he was up 4 after 4 and probably 7/1 or at worst 6/2 after 8..

    if the scoring was close canelo would have imposed himself more. that was a very easy win for canelo, extremely easy due to open scoring. trout did NOT have ONE true dominant round, not one.

    some close rounds due to canelo going easy (from being up so many points) but not a single dominant round for trout

    i had it 8-4...maybe 7-5 for trout plus the knock down brings the score closer. canelo didn't really do ****. had that fight been in vegas with neutral judges...it would have been scored much differently.

    problem is these guys lose 1 or 2 times and quit fighting because they dont want to lose yet another. instead of being active and staying in the mix......wasting his career

    You should look at it.

    If your last impression of him was the Canelo fight, you will be surprised at how easily Lara outboxed him.

    Especially with Canelo and Lara scheduled to meet; you have a perfect excuse to do some catch-up viewing and contrast their most notable common opponent. :good (which Trout is, slightly more than El Perro)

    No. he was schooled and dominated only once against Lara while Canelo won the fight it was not all that big of a boxing lesson Trout did win some rounds

    Nah. Lara is one of the best fighters in the world and the Canelo fight was close. Could have gone to Trout, but Canelo is the golden goose so he, of course, won all the close rounds. Trout's still a top 10, 154 pound fighter in the world.
