Do you ever think there will be another Tyson or a bit heavier Marciano like fighter that will come onto the scene and tear down all of the massive fighters that are currently fighting? It would be remarkable and near unbelievable to have a 5'11" 205-220 pound built stocky fighter that just comes out of nowhere and knocks all of these 6'3" and up fighters out.

And how popular would that man become? I really think he would be the most popular person on Earth. It's an interesting question and I would like to see opinions on this.

Of course, but then Tyson and Marciano were pretty special fighters themselves. Toney, Byrd, Tua kept ALOT of giants in check. Toney was "The Buffalo Hunter", when he started hunting heavyweights, until he started hunting buffalo chickenwings instead.

There will be never a good man small man who beats an equally good and skilled, but much taller man. It's just the nature of the sport.

I seriously doubt it, the way humans have evolved has made it much easier for a guy 6'5 + to be athletic and balanced. A guy who was that tall back in the 30's was basically a freak of nature, very little balance etc (not exactly made for boxing) same as a guy who's 7 ft + now, doesn't make for an ideal fighter. So no I seriously doubt a guy below 6' will ever be able to compete let alone dominate.

Eventually due to evolution guys who are 6'5 won't be able to compete either, it will be ruled by 7ft+ heavyweights.

Yea someday there will probably be one, but it may be 10 or 15 years down the road, i don't see why not:huh, HELL THERE'S TALL BOXERS THAT DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW TO FIGHT, AND ARE CREAM PUFFS....

Just 10 years ago Roy Jones beat Ruiz, and Jones isn't no 6 feet tall....:-(

People are getting taller, back in the 1960's men that were 5-9 or 5-10 were considered above average height, nowadays a 5-10 man is considered on the short side....

Anything is possible. There is always a chance that an undersized, genetically gifted guy could come onto the scene and slay some giants. For that to happen, however, it would have to be the perfect storm of genetics( natural athleticism, coordination, explosion, etc.) and upbringing( work ethic instilled at early age, early exposure to the sport, quality instruction, etc.). This scenario is more likely to occur in a region like Central Asia, where Boxing is #1 and the environment is conducive to building character at an early age.

100% agree. You wouldn't believe how many people think they can fight because they're really tall or really big. I'm particularly amused when somebody thinks he can kick my ass because he's considerably bigger than me. ****in' hilarious.

I don't see it happening unless he is a world class boxer. Guys are just too big for someone that size nowadays. He'd need a granite chin, and the skills of Marquez.

    Of course it's possible.

You need a special athlete blessed with a balanced set of skills, and that's well within the realm of possibilities.

Look at Thabiso Mchunu. He's 5'8" cruiserweight who's been giving bigger fighters hell. He completely schooled Chambers, who was a heavyweight. I wouldn't dare pick him against a guy like Wlad or a giant like Fury, but if he was 3 inches taller and 15 lbs heavier, I think he has a chance to beat guys like Stiverne.

Height does not matter. Look at Sam langford , he was like 5'7 and knocking out fighters much bigger than himself. It is about skills more than anything. In fact, I think shorter fighters would give the kit bros problems since they can get underneath their shots. The only problem is there are not a lot of skilled, shorter fighters out there. Watch qawi-foteman, qawi gave foreman more problems than cooney did.

No, there will never be another dominant heavyweight under the 6 foots, in my opinion.

The reason is that every boxer with 4 or more inches of size advantage, if able to use this size properly, has too much advantage over the other one. He can control the smaller with just the jab alone, moving away.

also height advantage generally comes with weight advantage, when there's no weight limit.

And short boxers tends to bulk up too much to not give away too much size advantage and to try to compensate with power, wich leads to terrible stamina and/or a very low workrate and punch output.

In the past it was different, the only boxers really tall were generally totally unskilled and even unable to move around properly.

Just think about Primo Carnera, the guy was a circus freak until someone forced him to try boxe. Result, he looked totally spastic in the ring, he was obscenely unskilled and uncoordinated.

But today, there are a lot of guys over 6'5 that are athletic and fit, so a 6'0 heavyweight will never be able to dominate the division.

But, it may happen that he could land some lucky shot on a weak title holder and be a paper champ for a while. With all those belts around, it's still possible i think.

Yeah, because guys like this can only come from America:patsch

    Yes, there will be.

We have not evolved in the last 30 years. Diet and nutrition have changes, but the human genome is exactly the same. Evolution takes millions of years, not 30!

well...jess willard was well regarded at the time until dempsey did what he did.....I was only reading a book other day with gunboat smith giving a great account of the boxer that willard was.
I think yes...of course....another frazier / holyfield / even jerry quarry will come along....and it'll take a very good big man to beat them...dont think all big champions will nessiserally be of the quality of the klitschkos from now on...despite nature making men bigger.
