The last time I checked Miguel was 5'7''tall and medium sized for a welterweight. Of course, he was almighty powerful specially with his trademark left hooks to the body during the days he defended the WBO light welterweight title against the likes of Lovemore NDou and Randall Bailey and he had hair too. he put on a lot of bulk to smash down Carlos Quintana for the vacant Welterweight Title and specially Zab Judah who was coming after one year layoff and the Roger Mayweather scandal in the Mayweather-Judah fight, fought toe to toe with Shane Mosley ( exactly the same number of powerpunches were thrown specially Shane's overhand right and Cotto's left hook) and then came Margarito and all... WWhy don't you guys let it go? the poor fella has heart and proved it against Money Mayweather but so did Chino Maidana... Cotto lost to Austin Trout! That already says that he gat no chances against a middleweight, cause let's realize, Martinez is a middleweight, he beats middles like Barker, Pavlik, Macklin, Julio C Chavez Jr. I am sure that Cotto is not gonna go the distance or else he will make it but completely battered and bloodied and losing a lopsided decision. LET IT GO!

 

saying "I think he may actually be taller" doesn't make any sense. Being bigger, stronger and bullying him on the inside may be possible though. I don't know what their fight night weights usually are but it's possible Cotto could be bigger in the ring on the night. Cotto is a strong, stocky guy so that's why I could also see him potentially being stronger on the inside. Whether or not he'll be able to get on the inside is another matter.

I get what Roach is saying, but even as a big Cotto fan, I find it really hard to see a scenario where Cotto is successful against Martinez.

Yes, if Cotto gets inside he has most of the advantages, he'll be taller because Martinez bends and leans forward, and his reach will also be compromised, while Cotto will be getting full leverage with every shot and every push.

My problem is that I just fail to see Cotto getting inside through Martinez onslaught and whatever mobility he has left, without getting busted and hurt himself.
