The question also is...has Kovalev ever been tested?

    Couple of things :

Stevenson better work on his defense if he plans on facing Kovalev ..He can't be that lazy against a puncher like that...

The flips side to this fight is those unknowns about Sergey can he take a good punch, how does he react under adversity etc .

I really hope we get this fight.

Stevenson ran from Kovalev for a good reason, he knows that Kovalev will knock him out, Stevenson knows and he knows himself better than biased fans..................Stevenson had an agreement with HBO for a fight with Kovalev, but instead he ran to Showtime to avoid Kovalev...................ask yourself, "Why did he do that?" It's very obvious.................

I think we will. It'll continue to grow, and will eventually be a very big money fight. It'll happen.

I read that HBO has a lawsuit to force the fight. We will see. They will have to drag Stevenson to the ring to fight Kovalev. Wonder if Stevenson will be crying while they are dragging him? And to think Ward refused to fight Stevenson at 175 and even at 168..............

nothing about stevenson suggests he will be the one to withstand kovalevs power. it'sobvious when he's asked, he wants nothing to do with that fight.

He connected that piston left tonight on Fonfara in the 1st, but the guy has a good chin so he only got knocked down instead of ktfo. Kovalev might take it, yet again he might not. Adonis can just as easily KO Kovalev...than Kov can KO him. That said I'm leaning toward Adonis landing first and possibly ending it right there.

Adonis appears to have to scrotum, call in a Dr. for a check. he has a severe stamina problem. His power is nonexistent after 2-3 rounds. he is a one trick pony. he is SCARED SHITLESS of Kovalev. He is at his best fighting girls. What more do we need to KNOW?

Agnew took Kovalevs punches for a while and landed some of his own, but didnt have the power behind it. If Adonis tags him we'll see how he reacts

Agnew was on survival mode after 10 seconds of round 1, he only managed to survive for so long because he almost completely abandoned his offense.

An unproven fighter with no resume and very little power. Lasted 7 rounds and you guys think Adonis gets sparked in five? Like I said, when someone hits him back. We'll see how he reacts.

First my congrats to modernfonzie. Wise **** man. now on the matters that have to do with some characters - Sergey Kovalev, Adonis Stevenson, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse.

Sergey Kovalev - The guy is a solid well-schooled product of the ex-Soviet Union which is almost as good as sayin from Cuba plus he already proved that he has above average power. But and following modernfonzie line of thought, the guy is fundamentally untested in the big stage because all he did was go all hell breaks loose against a physically weaker opponent who dared to go toe to toe with him in Nathan Cleverly. So I would give this guy time to settle but it seems that he became some people's banner who want to rush him into the big time... Why is that to be? Because of Stevenson and Al Haymon? Because of Bernard Hopkins and GBP? Due to the lack of options of new blood in the division? Maybe cause of a little bit of everything.

Adonis Stevenson - This is the real Superman out of the guetto who is making the poor people happy and himself by knocking guys out in all sorts of ways. We still don't know if he's a great boxer but we have na idea that he gat skills and a hell of a punch. Why do people like him? Basically because he knocks people out, unfortunatelly not Fonfara but he is still Champion and lineal Champ. And he's a happy guy, a colourful personality.

Danny Garcia - This is the guy who has made thousands of anti-Amir Khan haters-fans happy and people are still paying their debt to him. Sure nobody gives a damn if Danny and specially Papa Angel go down the drain but as long as they r there, they praise them for consistency and their , I wouldn't say tasteless, but unique humour style before and after fights. Danny is a good fighter at 140, remains to be seen at 147 pounds.

Lucas Matthysse - He's a time-bomb, the guy is called la maquina. He just wants to hurt ya. There are fans who like them like that and there are fans who like them more cerebral like Macho Camacho who was WBO Jr light welterweight Champion and put on a clinic on super exciting Vinnie Pazienza in the old Trump Plaza and the Pazmanian Devil had no more no less than Lou Duva, Kevin Rooney and George Benton in his corner. Matthysse is an exciting argentine but now they come in bunches like Chino and Maravilla.

if stevenson gets hit by fonfara on the regular, a faster harder hitting terror like kovalev would send stevenson to an early grave.

You fail to recognize a few imprtant factors:

    1. Adonis' supposed "superior boxing skills" are far from proven (he has outboxed Cloud ffs...and been outboxed to a degree by Fonfara). Kovalev has an international amateur background, so you can kind of write off any questions about his skills, because power doesn't win amateur fights consistently. The skills are there.

    2. Lucas got hit with a nice shot and couldn't see. Changes the fight completely, doesn't mean any of the things you tried to make it mean.

    3. Kovalev has gotten by on power so far. So has Stevenson. Stevenson has proven hittable, Kovalev really hasn't. Neither guy has a very great chin.

Summary: You've seen more of Stevenson and therefore assume he would win. Bump this thread when they fight...if they even do after Hopkins dominates Stevenson.
