Julian Jackson was not the same puncher at the full middle limit. I love the guy but he was most potent at super welter.

So happy to say I met Al Hostak twice.

    Good point about J. J.
I know little about Hostak except that he is considered a phenomenal puncher .
I remember reading an old BI article about when he won the title, it was entitled "I Couldn't Stop My Fists That Night" , he had that other great puncher Freddie Stele down 4 times for a first round ko to take the NBA title from him .

ps You have Garcia on your list.,he has 74 kos but only 14 at 160lbs couldn't the same be said about him as you mentioned about Jackson?

    I have trouble believing that.
Against Nigel Benn he came in at 165, a full 3 pounds inside the 168 limit. If he was coming into the ring so huge, he would have taken advantage of the limit and been 167 at least.

The Hostak beatdown was after Apostoli ruined Freddie, breaking his sternum which never properly healed. Freddie didn't really take to recuperation anyway, having fought before with a still healing broken jaw and shortly after a major car accident.

Good point. In his defense, Garcia's KO ratio didn't change as he went up in weightÂ… not at least until the Overlin fight which harkened a quick downturn in his results. Anecdotes ran high in regards to Garcia's power and bolo punch. I guess there are others who could take his spot on that list but it's arguable that he deserves it.

They could be out boxed and execution was not always good but Graziano nailed SRR square and dropped him for a bit, he could bang with that right hand but like Earnie Shavers could not always finish you or even catch you because he telegraphed but if he hit you he could take you out.

I remember even though Carter got out boxed he nailed Granite chin Irish Joey Archer and Joeys knee almost touched the canvas but Joey was tough and even traded with him for a minute ( If Joey could punch ) and I remember that 1st round blow out over Griffith ....

5th would be way below these and would be between Valdez, Robinson and maybe Benn if you count him.
