Mike Tyson 45–2 (39 KO) who was DQ'd against Evander Holyfield vs the Muhammad Ali 46-2 (34 KO) who TKO'd Ron Lyle. 12 rounds of boxing.
By their respective points at this stage...Ali should be on the golf course...Tyson should be in the circus.
Ali all day. Mike was now a plodder with hardly any head movement or combinations. Ali would pepper him, tie him up, whisper in his ear, touch the top of his head, break and repeat until winning via DQ.
Ali all day long, by DQ or Tyson quits, no way in hell could Tyson in 1997 go 15 hard rounds, sometime during the fight he would look for a way out..
[/remembering wot salty_trunks posted,] Tyson woz in e beter kondishen in 1997 dan hi woz in 1996 [/ end of reminder] , wich woz e rili gud kondishen rigardles wot sam kleim
It would be competitive for around 4 - 5 rounds. After that,Tyson would get frustrated and discouraged and it would only be a matter of time until Ali ends the fight. Tyson could n't maintain an effective assault by 1997. Ali by tko around the halfway mark.
I think Tyson actually looked good in the bite fight, he looked trim and sharp, but the discipline and will was gone, Tyson by that point would struggle with anyone who could take a punch and wasn't intimidated and had the right gamelan, look what Botha did 2 years later
You think so? I think he looked awfully weak and slim against Mcneeley, against Bruno he looked in good shape, maybe slightly more cut up but that massive neck was all gone. He looked a bit chubby against Seldon and Holyfield 1, then in Holyfield 2 he looked in amazing shape. After that, he was just a fat balding Tyson, but he did look in great shape vs Francis, and then he wa sback to being fat again
Ali by late stoppage . while both were well past their best . I just think Ali had a bit more left in the tank
Ali lost to Berbick by UD only 6 years later, Tyson had previously beaten Berbick in just 2 rounds 11 years ago. You do the math
I think Ali at this stage would take a part an after prison Tyson. Ali was still very crafty at this time and had fast hands and Tyson at this time his forum had diminished greatly. I think it may be something like the Ron Lyle fight in a sense that Ali would play defense for a lot of the early rounds with some brief flurries with his fast hands. I'd expect Tyson unlike Ron Lyle to really try to bomb away on Ali but wouldn't get much through his gloves. I think Ali would push and wrestle with Tyson tiring him out and eventually Ali would take over in the mid to late rounds and start peppering a fatigued Tyson. I think the bout ends something like Ali's fight with Lyle and Tyson's first fight with Holyfield with Tyson on his feet taking a number of unanswered punches from Ali until the ref comes in and stops the fight. I think Ali at this time could even possibly beat a prime Tyson just based on how crafty he was in the ring and stronger mentally he was then Tyson.
Ali playing with Tyson to the point where Tyson loses his control and gets DQ for biting Ali's ear off.
