There have been many memorable performances by Australian fighter overseas. Some have resulted in world title belts. Others courageous losses, and there have been some that have resulted in humiliating losses.

Here's a thread to discuss those overseas fights by Aussie boxers.

I'll kick this thread off with Lionel Rose's huge win over Fighting Harada in 1968 in Tokyo, Japan.

Harada was a 50-3 legend of the bantamweight division when the 27-2 Rose took his WBA & WBC titles from him by UD, and it remains one of the greatest, perhaps the greatest win by an Australian anywhere.

The Harding vs Andries trilogy is probably not accorded the respect it deserves. Each of their 3 meetings was for the WBC title and the winner alternated each fight.

As discussed in the other thread it was ironic Harding won the two away fights, in the US and then the UK, but lost the 2nd fight at home. That loss in Melbourne was the only stoppage loss of Harding's career.

All 3 were cracking fights too and the winners all came from behind.

Troy was easily the best of the Waters brothers and he sure shook Norris up. But he wasn't able to finish him and champion that Norris was he soon got Troy out of there once he regained his composure.

Zab Judah did so much mouthing off going into that fight he deserved every bit of humiliation Kostya Tyszu delivered him. Judah will always be remembered by Aussies for that chicken-walk.

Dave Sands win over future world champ Carl 'Bobo' Olsen in Chicago. The first fight on American TV to be broadcast coast to coast.
