    You know a guy is really getting his ass beat when Steve Smoger steps in and stops the fight

    Round 2

    Karl is drilling Mitchell into the ropes with jabs and right hands. Mitchell weaves under a top rope and gets his neck caught, guillotining himself as Karl slams him with both hands. Smoger moves in to intercept.

    TKO2!!

    Ah, weird. That was after I stopped watching, yeah.

    He seemed like the kind of guy who, unlike most, was almost guaranteed to be tenured for as long as he wanted to be (like Helmsley or Layfield or Patterson) - a fixture of the 'inner circle'.

    Vince thinks he looks too old to be on TV with his bell's palsy.

    He was never part of the inner circle. Vince would every now and then make fun of Ross openly on TV to stroke his own ego I guess. Last time Ross called a match, they had a guy named John Laurinaitis who in storyline just took charge of the show come to the ring, call Ross into the ring, and fire him as commentator in his hometown. Ross didn't act at all, got out of the ring, shook Jerry Lawler's hand, and left. Laurinaitis in real life was Ross' successor as Head of Talent Relations.

    JR is doing really well. They should replace Mauro Ranallo with JR on Showtime.

    He is trying really hard...but he just doesn't get that boxing fans aren't, well, children. :yep

    "The main event is next. We've been anticipating this one for a loooong time!"

    :lol::lol: The hell? :?

    Nobody has anticipated this, ever. This card was cobbled together, what, maybe a month ago? Juarez has been inactive since 2012 and before he upset Escalante he was a on a four-year, seven-bout winless streak. Oh - and no casual knows who Alvarado is (and only some of the older casuals have a foggy recollection of Rocky being a fringe contender from the previous decade) and probably no diehards outside Nicaragua really know of him.

    Just the wrong phrase to chuck in, really exposed himself as knowing jack.

    Mauro is at least just knowledgeable enough about what he's calling that his enthusiasm doesn't come across cartoonishly fraudulent.

    One of the announcers sounds like Scobby Doo everytime he mentions Juarez's name.

    Listen carefully. "Rooarez"
