What is shady about him? His clients seem to be happy on the services he's rendering to them. After every fight, one of the first thing his fighters does is thanking him for a job well done. Secondly, how do you know that people who admire Haymon don't have father figures in there life. You're sound like a sad little Thwart who can't inspire anyone. Just go away with your hating ass.
I think that more of your opinion (which you are entitled too) than actual facts. Haymon does not manage GGG or Chavez Jr at all so i think you are listen to negative rumor comment about him and taking it as face value. Don't believe everything you read, to the best of my knowledge...he's done nothing wrong to effect boxing.
Every fighter should receive an opportunity..are you telling me if you were a Ota type fighter, would you want to be blackballed...beside it was an eliminator...Haymon didn't sanction the fight, just place it on one of his cards so his manage fighter can get paid.
He is an advisor and works with an extensive list of fighters who have never said a bad word about the man. To me he is the anti don king/bob arum and could be making a power play after the fall of golden boy.
It seems like all promoter should be like Haymon you never see him all he does is sit on the sidelines and help facilitate fight.
It seems like boxing advisors should be at odds with boxing fandom. A manager is trying to navigate their client to the greatest returns with the least amount of risk. This makes perfect sense since boxing is an amazingly difficult and taxing sport. The boxing fandom wants to see competitive fights where it's a toss up as to who is going to win and lose. Tough, grueling fights (either physically or in the technical vein) between equally matched opponents and wants to see that kind of thing often.
Alvarez-Lara and Garcia-Matthysse are/was some of the most anticipated fights that happen due to Haymon. Guys like Hoya didn't want that fight and Arum tried to stop the highest grossing fight of all time in Mayweather-Hoya, Haymon is better for boxing than both those clowns
Did they happen due to Haymon? I don't actually know the answer the this question, just curious. I don't know Haymon is better for boxing than those other guys. And I don't think he's all bad for it either.
I would assume so as soon as Matthysse signed with Haymon he got Garcia and as soon as Lara signed with Haymon he got Alvarez. Saul said himself Oscar didn't want to make Alvarez-Trout or Lara
True, Don King and Al Haymon actually made fights happen But theres something really fishy about Haymon, especially with all fighters parroting the exact same words, almost like theyre brainwashed 'First of all, I want to thank Al Haymon......'
Apparently we're so desperate for good fights that we now have to nuthug the people who feed us table scraps and the occasional main course. It's too much to ask the promoters (and in Haymon's case, pseudo-promoter) to do their job- ie, not rip off fighters and make the best fights on a regular basis. That's just unreasonable.
What does that mean? moron... Fighter don't make fights, they just train. it is up to sanctioning body, promoters, managers and advisor to make the fights. No one piece can do it without the other.
