England is much like Germany, minus the money.
Both countries will flock out in droves to see mediocre boxing competition.
Germany has Klitscho and Sturm, while England has their Fury and Froch.

Mayweather fighting in either country against their best mediocre fighters would probably double the upcoming Froch-Groves sardine match.

I am surprised more BIG fights are not happening in Wembly.

I think any of the top name guys, with a good opponent, could have huge events over there. May, Pac, Klitschko, Khan, etc.

I think the Domestic fights like Froch/Groves or a potential Khan/Porter fight shows you what could happen if the top guys fight in the UK.

I remember when Ali fought all over the world. I think the up and coming guys should go on the road. A world tour to build a fan-base. Especially guys like Ward, Hopkins, Bradley and others who can really sell out their mommas back yard.

Probably in Mexico if Marquez and Pacquiao fought at Estadio Azteca it would be 1000,000 hardcore boxing fans

A little off topic but I was a huge Hatton fan. I wish we could have seen him against a prime Marquez or Cotto. Even a faded Oscar de la Hoya wanted to fight Hatton in Wembley.

    Hatton vs JMM
    Hatton vs Oscar
    Hatton vs Cotto
    WOW!

Just because theres 80,000 people there, doesnt mean that they're bringing in more money than a 15,000 Mayweather fight.

Course not, but the atmosphere is good. Vegas needs to build a stadium, lower the price tickets, bring in more punters to spend money in casinos.

Maybe, i think it was simply a case of a Mexican hero fighting a world title fight in a massive stadium.

Chavez rarely fought his big fights in Mexico. His title fights were nearly all outside of Mexico.

He'd have got that crowd regardless of who he was fighting.

I think they would have to announce a national holiday. I think mvc!'s million(probably more) stadium would have to be built. Maybe that's what arum was thinking:lol:

Mayweather was too scared to fight Hatton in England.

And you guys give Calzaghe hell for fighting in the UK.:-(

Remember 50,000+ for the MK fight. Hopkins can't even sell out an area in the country fair.

Is that a big turnout for a sports event in England? How does it compare to others there?

Floyd could sell out any stadium in the world with prices like the Groves/Froch's.

    Easily.

He could probably sell out Wembley fighting Liam Smith :hi:
