man im watching past fights and my goodness this guy has no defense at all. hes been getting past the barker's, Mackilin's of the world but man I expect Cotto to rip his face to shreds! mr keep my hands downs. I dont know how anybody would be surprised if martinez gets dropped by Cotto, this dude has no defense whats so ever. and some of you clowns are gonna be like "well his defense doesnt matter because hes gonna KO Cotto" DEFENSE ALWAYS MATTERS IN BOXING!!

Cotto is gonna pound Martinez!! :bbb:bbb

Defense does not always matter. If you punch harder and take the better punch, that's a big part of it.

He's been working on some defense....however, he will resort to the same old habits once he starts feeling the body attackage!!!

Yes he will, and that will leave him wide open. Cotto is gonna have to eat some to throw some but I think Cotto's defense is way better and will take less punches then Martinez

Martinez has been slowing down for years, and maybe it wasn't obvious when he was fighting guys like Macklin, Barker or Chavez because they didn't have the skills to exploit it, but it was apparent in the Murray fight. If the guy who fought Murray shows up, I have no doubt Cotto will be beat him. Murray was walking in on Martinez just with a high guard and a jab. Even Macklin was neutralizing Martinez on the outside just by having a little head movement and good footwork.

just make sure you show us your betting ticket where you are gonna get "rich" betting on cotto.
there isnt nothing Martinez can do bad enough for the little midget to win. Cotto will get his sh.it pushed in once again

You're crazy. Sergio has great fundamentals, so his defense is solid, especially for an aggressive southpaw fighter.

He could put his hands up a little more, but Sergio is typically in a predicament where his opponent does not engage with him because they are afraid of his power.

He's also usually the smaller guy, so his opponents can choose to use their size and reach to box him, if they want, and usually they opt to do that.

I don't think the thread starter understand how difficult it is to be an aggressive undersized fighter with a stance opposite of your opponent.

The distance between the power hand is greater which allows for more reaction time, and gives the guy who's scared to fight an advantage.

Martinez rolls, ducks, and slides away from punches all the time. He does get hit occasionally, but if he chooses to do so, he could probably easily box Cotto to victory, especially considering his power.

However, Sergio is a knock out fighter. He tries to hurt his opponent. I also have a lot of questions about his legs as he has accumulated a great deal of injuries.

He may not be the same fighter.

That's the ONLY reason Cotto would win.

If Martinez is healthy, Cotto is about to fight a supersized Pacquaio type fighter that is going to whup his ass.

Looking at some pictures now and the size difference between them doesn't seem all that big. People may say Martinez is a super sized Pacquiao but he's not currently on the level of the version of Pacquiao that fought Cotto. Martinez is bigger but he's not gonna be as fast as Pacquiao.
