I remember seeing a video of Liston saying "I Think it's a shame that Clay is picking on Old Archie."
I've seen a pic of Liston jumping rope and Moore standing behind him smiling and clapping his hands, and also both of them together with a young George Foreman. Was just curious.

Before Liston made it big and Moore was taking fights at heavyweight to stay busy both Moore and Sonny fought on the same heavyweight fringe circuit. They beat some of the same guys. Whitehurst and King for example. There would have been an aknowjedgement between them as there is between fighters with common opponents. Whether they admit it or not fighters keep an eye on who the last guy got beat by to weigh up potential opponents. Whilst Moore could still beat the same guys as Liston he was still lightheavyweight champ and had already fought twice for the heavyweight title so he would not have been seen as a threat. I imagine with no real rivalry between them they would have been able to get along. I get the impression Liston was quite a suspicious guy. He got on with fighters so long as they were no longer a threat to him. For example Liston and Joe Louis were close.

    Of course :good

There was proberbly no other type of "connection" in those days. Everybody was connected and some would argue that helped everyone get along.

Joe Louis and Archie were old school guys and there was a mutual respect that they had back then. Archie and Ray Robinson had a weird dislike for one another, Archie disliked Ray because of his ego and Ray did not like Archie's high articulate verbiage but this was just a matter of personality and ego....everyone loved Joe Louis and its funny that it was Marciano and Frank Sinatra that did a lot to help him when Uncle Sam IRS went for the kill to the man who helped with the war effort

I'll bet Marciano didn't give Joe any money. Rocky was as tightwad as they came. He might have helped Joe on the PR front.

no he more than likely pushed Frank to use his Las Vegas connections and pushed his rich friends to help, Rocky was tight but he did look up to Louis as a fighter and a man but more than likely used OPM = other peoples money

Rocky was aware of his ability to connect people. It is said that he if you helped Rocky he could put you with someone who could help you. He did not spend his money but apparently he always repaid with a favour.

For example when he wanted to help Willie pep He put Willie pep with someone who could help him because the guy who was able to help pep had benefited from an introduction marciano had set up for him that had put that guys business on another level so he owed Rocky a favour.

When Louis was down on his luck Rocky would call in a favour from business men who benefited from their relationship with marciano as well as show business people who would benefit from publicity.

Rocky was cheap but it did not stop him helping. It's like all these celebs who "work" for charity. They don't spend their money either. It is still support or help.
