You think it's a coincidence that whent the Irish, Italians, and even Jews were not considered 'white' in America, those groups were some of the most downtrodden and crime ridden communities in this country? Who do you think ran organized crime in this country? Where do you think the term 'ghetto' comes from?

I don't think being from a tough background makes you a better fighter - It's an easy inference to make, but I think it is more a case of people from poor background being the ones that have to fight to make a living. How many middle-class people go to boxing gyms or turn professional? I'd bet it's not a lot. Thus we only get fighters from poor backgrounds and this creates the illusion that you have to grow up poor to succeed.

 

Do you have any idea how you are viewed in America? It ain't based on your 'great pride' nor 'natural living', my friend. The white folks here in America call your homelands 'backwards', yet you think dissing on native born Africans in America is going to get you a little pat on the head.

Good points. I can't disagree but all I'm saying is African Americans could make positive changes for their communities whether discrimination persists or not. If there was a sweeping movement in the African American community to focus on academics as fiercely as asians do I would imagine that the average quality of life in the African American community would see substantial gains. I would even wager that the perception of African Americans would improve as well.

 

Problem is (imo) Afro-American role models, more people want to be like Lil Wayne and less like Barack Obama.

People want to be seen as 'ghetto' but nobody wants to improve things in those same ghettoes.

 

I'm not too sure, I can't think of many tough fighters from alabama or arkansas etc.

And yes i agree the American Media Machine is by far the worst weapon in the world, it both portrays and actively encourages the negative stereotype about black people.
