He had it all, great natural power in either hand, great ring generalship, fast hands, good movement, great reflexes, heart, will to win, killer instinct.confidence, great chin, great amateur pedigree and great teaching, he was 128-1-1 only losing to Lamotta that he avenged and could have retired then before losing to Turpin which he avenged dramatically

The newspaper men and the Tv announcers, the boxing writers, Ring magazine etc.

He's definitely ONE OF the greatest, but there are at least five or six fighters in history who are his equal.

i think his level of opposition is what makes most people think of him so highly, he faught 20 something world champions in a time when there were only 8 world titles in the whole of boxing. He also faught a ridiculous amount of hall of famers

Greb and Duran are. Only really on his level

Pacquiao and jones jnr in recent times were both in that level

Jones, of course would have destroyed him at 160

Oh Ray Robinson? He was the real deal, PROVEN, not like that imitator who ripped off hsi name and tried copying parts of ALi's career with so clled forced retirements

there's nothing pnhony about Robinson. he was his own man, was never in the shadow of fighters greater than himself

he's right up there with the best of them

pac on Robinsons's level? I strongly dissagree with that as do i dissagree that Jones destroy's him at 160. Not at Robbie's best in 1950, early 51

I like Pac, he's a real gentleman and his people were very cordial letting me into their gym on Vine street years ago. They actually gave me a tour of the gym without me asking. It's one of those things where you kind of get lucky being at the right place the right time. I never actually met pac that day as they told me he was in training for a fight elsewhere, against who I dont know

seeing both men on film, RR performs several levels higher than Pac

His numbers are amazing. As well as the 141-1 thing, he fought more fights against Hall of Fame fighters than most fight period now a days.

But the stats are just the start.

He had all the equipment: The punches, the technique, the Boxing ability, the ring generalship, the chin and the ability to turn around or avenge adversary.

And then you have the mystic: Whatever it was, he had it; the star quality, the aura, the je ne sais quoi...
