I don't see where fact were ignored. Original post said fight averages close to 650k which is down from his 1.3 million average in his last fight on hbo. I stated that Thurman averaged over 800k in his last fight. We weren't ignoring facts as we were comparing averages not peak. You are bring up a different number to try and spin. It's a classic argument tactic. You don't like the way something is going to you try and reset the conversation. However your reset doesn't work because it still shows Stevenson in a negative light.

    Thanks

Watch HBO pick up Kovalev vs Fonfara later this year and draw 1.x million viewers.
Would they put more asses in seats in Chicago or New Jersey?

 I could actually see that happening. I am not familiar with big venues in Chicago, so it would probably end up on the Boardwalk in NJ.

The people are beginning to wise up and speak. Nobody likes the best ducking the best. Regardless as to whom is at fault, Pac and Mayweather are decling on PPV. Most agree that Stevenson is ducking Kovalev.

Originally HBO had a card for the same night. Imagine the disaster had that not been called off. Not saying Perez and Macklin would have drawn great, but it certainly would have cost SHO some eyeballs.

Could be because he switched networks and now he'll have to rebuild his fanbase at Showtime. Could be Fonfara wasn't deemed a suitable opponent. Could be the last fight's numbers were artificially high for some reason, like HBO was building him up for a fight with Kovalev.

No I mean all time, Showtime's most viewed fight was 1.3 million. Chavez Jr has done over 1.6 million viewers in the past as well as Bernard Hopkins on HBO

Best to look at past year, year and a half when making comparisons. Another solid comparison for Stevenson would be comparing his HBO->SHO performance relative to other HBO fighters who went to SHO in the past year or so which still paints Stevenson's US boxing brand in a pretty bad light.

As I pointed out before though, his Canadian brand power is probably perfectly good and a poor US showing shouldnt prevent him from making money or anything.

Still, I do think he could have been more. All sports thrive on rivalries, especially boxing. He was lucky enough to have one that could have catapulted him even higher, but took the dollar in his pocket over the 10 in his future had he beat Kovalev. Not that I blame him really, but its always a shame to see compelling rivalries dry up.

The Cotto was only around 1.5m thats a typo. Yes I have seen that and many other articles on the topic including the NPD list.

In fact the Broner-Broner comparison makes my more recent point.

Naw naw, it seems to me that you left out the fact that he peaked at 800,000 and that's crucial in determining the actual hits. You down played that in an attempt to cast the man in a negative light. Give the whole story and let people make up their own minds as to what they think about it. It's an old saying that goes " Tell it like it is". If it's not the whole truth then it's some bull**** in the game.

More, sure. A lot more? Thats a stretch considering Paulie-Porter capped at 800k and basically stole the show so to speak when it was on. Most of the observed interest in the bout was Porter, not Paulie.

So are you trying to say that Stevenson did not take a brand hit?

Or are you just arguing at the exact precision of the numbers I posted earlier? Because if its that, thats fine. Even if you go to 1.4HBO to 1.1 for SHO, ignore as outlier the top match for both - both networks had more than one bout at 1.4 range and 1.1 range respectively. Ignoring the "loose change" just say thats 20% difference give or take of what we could consider a "soft cap" for non-competitive boxing audience. (Networks werent competing with each other that night)

Thats still nowhere close to 46% drop.

yeah I get what you're saying. I think obviously the truth is in the middle. I was mostly arguing with the poster earlier who was saying how him fighting on Showtime had no effect
