Mayweather hasn't lost Showtime one red cent

The simple fact they sold 2.2 million with Canelo keeps them in the green for a long time to come. Last time I checked 900,000 is still a good PPV number, nobody losing money off that...

It's the $32 million per fight that is the big issue. Floyd gets that regardless of how the PPV sells. With all the "sponsorship money" you are referring too, you are also neglecting the cable and satellite providers take of the share at roughly 50%. You also have to factor in the promotional companies cut (another 10-20%) and the purses for the rest of the fighters on the card. When you subtract all those percentages, there hasn't been any sustainable profits over the course of the contract to date.

you are correct for the most part.....in many of the floyd haters have upped the number to 1.5 mil in order to break even...which is ridic

but when you take the ppv revenue....you basically cut that in half as half goes to the cable providers......

i dont know that showtime is turning a big profit....or taking a small/slight loss on the guerrero/maidana fights......floyd does get a huge guarantee....and while his other fights that have sold well offered floyd real good upsides....those two havent...and hes prob not seeing much over his guarantee

all in all...even a slight loss/gain for the guerrero/maidana fights doesnt hurt showtime...its more about having mayweather build their boxing brand for them

Floyd also claims to make upwards of 70 MILLION a fight after the numbers are in. Unless he's lying, most of the money (no pun intended) is going to one man. Don't forget they are paying for propaganda pieces like All-Access and multimillion dollar undercard fights.

All I can say in your defense is that without the official documents, we don't know how well SHO is doing. However, it isn't a coincidence that after the Guerrero fight flopped, they streamlined the Canelo fight. Most expected that to be the last fight. Forbes reported SHO lost $15 million, so they needed to recoup some of that with a blockbuster, which they succeeded doing.

 

well you are assuming to know all the costs involved....the site fees....the sponorship money....we do know the live gate and whatnot

like i said....floyd gets his guarantee...and has upside potential....with the guerrero/maidana fights i doubt hes seeing much, if anything, over the guarantee

even still i dont think showtime is taking any real loss...if any a slight one...on those two fights.....the canelo fight did pretty well for them.....and it helps having floyds name associated with them so i think its still worth it to them.....i think its unfair to assume showtime is taking some huge losses with those two fights....its more like wishful thinking for some......

thats why i find it crazy that people think the 40 mil offer to manny was so ridiculous and under value for pac

consider the model was to pay pac 40 mil....and then pay arum step aside money....prob somewhere in the 10,12, 15 mil range....pac would not owe money to arum from his 40 mil cut......

consider if the fight did 200 mil in ppv revenue...that leaves about 100 mil in ppv rev....so floyd is handing mannys side 50-55 mil which is no chump change.....there are other revenue streams...but also alot of costs ....i think it would been fair for manny to at least come back and say "hey thats not terrible....lets work something out.....like if this fight meets certain revenue goals id like some more money there"...i think that would have been reasonable

instead that offer gets looked at by pac fans as if it was downright insulting....when it isnt all that terrible....considering manny did say he was willing to take less right?.....manny could have at least tried to work something out...instead he hangs up

 

the other day we had a ******* say "the fight would do 200 mil in ppv revenue at least....floyds going to keep all of that? thats not fair or a good deal"...i mean cmon

 

comcast and direct tv don't air these fights for free as others pointed out
