Felix Sturm is currently a 3 time MW champion who has a record of 39-3-2-1. Notable Opponents: De La Hoya, Geale, Castillejo, Macklin, Murray, Soliman and Sylvester. I have been a fan of Sturm since he "lost" to Oscar back in the day. I thought it was BS, but I think it was evened out when he was given the W against Macklin. Anyhow, where do you think/how do you think Sturm will be remembered? Let's say he fights 5 more times and goes 4-1 then retires. Simply a regional belt holder, or someone who has top 10 MW ranking potential? HOF?
The guy will never have that name Felix Sturm in his Tombstone or else he will have it and that he was robbed of a good career and millions of dollars in the United States by Oscar De La Hoya and Company but he won plenty of World title fights until Javier Castillejo, a former Jnr Middleweight from Spain who was exposed by Hoya, took his title in his Germany with a couple of uppercuts which was avenged but nonetheless. Then came Geale...
I live in the USA and will always remember how good he was, but he was not great. Not at all. Never set out to be great.
'World's tallest midget' springs to mind when it comes to being considered a great champion in Bosnia.
He'll be forgotten outside of Germany as soon as he retires. The highlight of his career was losing to DLH. He had absolutely no interest in fighting the best MWs instead choosing to fight lesser lights such as Geale, Macklin, Murray, etc. He won't be missed.
The guy who exposed Oscar as a guy who lost or got a gift decision in almost every big fight he ever fought
Not sure if I am reading this wrong, but outside of Macklin, what gifts did her get? He got a Draw against Murray that he should have won. Robbed against DLH. NC against a roided up Soliman. SD loss to Geale.
can't blame him for never wanting to fight here, after he was robbed against Oscar De La Chocha Granted it was on a bout that was leading into the DeLaHoya-Hopkins fight but still
As the guy who kicked De La Hoya's ass and who lost through robbery .. one of the biggest in history of boxing.
