Why come has a 23 year old Canelo fought BETTER opposition then 32 yr old GGG?

Pretty obvious...

One started boxing when he was 15 and is MEXICAN (which guarantees you an audience as long as you have the goods). He's been getting built up as a future start for years

The other is from Khazakhstan, probably didn't turn pro til he was in his late 20's and people are terrified to fight him

 

I was originally willing to overlook "why come" in your title and give you the benefit of the doubt, fully intending to read your OP and put real effort into taking it seriously...when...boom. Staring me right in the face, again.

Because Canelo can fight pretty much whomever he wants. Golovkin doesn't offer the same financial reward as Canelo. You combine that with just how dominant Golovkin has been and you can see why guys aren't lining up to fight Golovkin. That seems to be changing though.

 

While he's not fighting elite level fighters, he's not fighting bums either. He's fought solid opposition, and has run through these fighters like a hot knife through butter. Compare his performances against the likes of Macklin and Rosado to that of Martinez and Quillin.

Golovkin needs to step it up though. I'd prefer 2 fights a year against top Middleweights (or higher...hin hint) than have him fight 4 No name Jr. Middles.

 

You know what's funny? Lara called GGG out and wanted to fight him before Canelo did.

HBO won't approve Lara as an opponent. If they could get Haymon/GBP fighters on HBO, then Golovkin's people would certainly opt for a fight against Quillin rather than Lara.

 

With exception of Mayweather, Canelo and GGG fought comparable opposition.

Except one is a cash cow that is being carefully matched, and any fighter in within 2 weight classes would love to fight him, while the other is a feared knockout artist that had to chase his mandatories, and had champs vacate to avoid fighting him.

As far as the question goes. Canelo seem to walk the walk and do what he says he'll do.

GGG says he'll fight anyone from 154 to 168 but doesnt act on it.

Canelo wanted Trout. Got em
