Carefuly matched? You must be referring to GGG.

Floyd is better than GGG will ever face and Lara is better than everyone on GGGs resume. I say that and I dont rate Lara that high.

Have you been following all of Canelo's career or just the last 2 years of it? Until his fight with Trout, which mind you, most people thought he wasn't going to take because he was hoping for Cotto to win, Canelo was fed a steady diet of fighters that boxed as a hobby/had another full time job and old timers, one fight removed from retirement. He has good names on his resume but all of those names were so far past their prime they made current Roy Jones look like a spring chicken.

Trout was a good fight, against a young, capable champion, and Canelo won by 1 POINT.
1 point. I could even see a scorecard where Trout would be a winner.

Then he fought Mayweather, lost practically every round (While Maidana made Mayweather's life hell). Then he fought Angulo, a man that doesn't know what defence means, and that played the role of a walking punching bag the entire fight.

So, lets organize all these into a short list:

    1. Fought mediocre to absurdly poor opposition until his 35th fight. The man he fought, a one hit wonder named Baldomir, then went on to lose 3 more fights to B-/C level opposition before retiring.
    2. following that masterful performance, he fought a string of has beens/never was's that culminated in a challenge of ancient Shane Mosley, that just came off 2 loses and a disputed draw.
    3. After a bum break, he is forced by the unintended outcome of Cotto-Traut fight and public pressure to finally fight someone with a pulse - Traut, a young strong champion, yet completely green. He wins an extremely close and disputable decision, with the knockdown being the only thing that gave him a 1 point edge over his opponent.
    4. Canelo then goes on to fight the #1 p4p fighter in the world, and loses practically every round, despite a RIDICULOUS scoring by a well paid off ref.
    5. He then fights a walking punching bag that took one too many heavy shots on the head and gets a tko, unable to knock out a guy that couldn't even keep his hands up, landing at will.

That, my friends, is Canelo, 23 year old, Alvarez. Being an accelerate, he matured early, and his demise will is imminent as he is quickly getting too heavy for his weight class. He dominates his opponents mainly due to his sturdy frame and incredible ability to rehydrate to 2 weight classes above his own. Once he is forced to move to 160, where guys are his own weight, he will be beaten up and knocked out, even by the very same GGG, who by the way weighs about as much as Canelo does, fight night.

you mustn't know boxing very well.

Angulo is a walking punching bag, with a huge heart and a solid chin, but nothing more. His ability to take punishment is also severely affected by two knockouts, one particularly brutal, right before the fight with Canelo.

Trout is too untested and besides going toe to toe with Canelo and beating Cotto, is yet to strut his stuff. He is no better than Ouma tbh.

Canelo is 23 and outside of mayweather and trout.....well its quite a stretch to suggest he has fought better opposition than GGG. On top of that, there isn't a long line of fighters interested in fighting GGG.

    Such a dumb question.

Now, what this thread contributes of value is inspiring the idea the these two might meet in the future. :hey
They are about the same weight now.
This could be a huge fight next summer. Would love to see this one.:deal:thumbsup

If you remove all of Mayweather, Trout, and Angulo while also ignoring upcoming Lara... then Golovkin probably has the edge.

Alvarez is stepping it up after the warranted (yet often exaggerated) criticism of his opponents ever since challenging for the vacant WBC.

I guess that's why he dominated your mom. She's a bum. Is that why you slam GGG all the time?

That's the thing though, it doesn't **** on anything but itself. I don't think going life and death with Trout, a largely untested young champ that later lost very convincingly to Lara, should be considered a great achievement. Angulo is a nobody, coming off brutal Ko's. Lara fight was JUST SIGNED, let them come in the ring first and lets see if Canelo can even win this without the judges.

Mayweather...is losing every round to a guy that was pummeled by Maidana a crowning achievement?

GGG>Canelo any day of the week and twice on sundays. Considering that they are both in the same weight class (lets not kid ourselves, Canelo isn't going to be able to kill himself to make 154 much longer, and GGG is a small 160 lb-er), we will soon be able to have the ultimate test of my statements: they might actually fight.
