Why is steroid abuse swept under the carpet? It is an absolute disgrace.

I would say that boxing is far worse than cycling now as cycling is the most tested sport in the world. For example the average pro cyclist gets tested more times out of competition than the WHOLE of the ATP tennis tour.

As for substances, are you trying to say that increasing your strength, stamina and aggression wouldn't improve your boxing performance? If so you're wrong, and there are several drugs that can achieve those effects such as EPO and various forms of synthetic testosterone.

That guy is clueless. Anadrol makes you incredibly stronger, that has a huge impact in the ring.

Brandon Rios took DMAA, or known to gym goers round the world as Jack3d.
I think he said he took it weeks before the fight, and TBH I would give a pass if he took it on fight night. DMAA is nothing special.
Remember Caffeine is also banned in strong doses.
Drink 3 or 4 cups before a fight, and your suddenly a drug cheat.
Same goes for Mountain Dew, LOL.
But DMAA is closer to caffeine than a steroid.

Here's more info on the drug DMAA originally marketed as a nasal decongestant.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylhexanamine

As for the Vinny Paz, and caffeine before the fight. He said it during one of the telecasts on USA network. I just remember him saying it. I can't verify a source here. It was considered no big deal back in those days to admit to drinking coffee before a fight.
Now your a drug cheat with a Starbucks cup in hand lol.

Strength training increases strength/power and repeat sprints improve stamina. Creatine helps increase strength and caffeine helps increase stamina. Those are legal options.
The fact is that boxers aren't exceptional in any physiological way, and don't need to be. The strongest boxer is far weaker than the strongest person, the boxer with the highest VO2max/conditioning is nowhere near the fittest guy.
Boxing is determined predominantly by skills, ringmanship, mental focus etc.
If you get the fittest guy or the strongest guy in the world to box he's going to be ****. You need a combination of physiological strengths and most importantly a strong skill set.
Cycling, Weightlifting etc. are almost completely reliant on physiological factors completely aerobic or anaerobic, so taking banned substances may help there. Boxers aren't pushing their bodies anywhere near the edge of human capabilities so the impact that any performance enhancing substance could have is minimal. Not to mention they have to make weight, and things like HGH are completely useless contrary to popular belief.
If I'm a boxer and I find out my opponent is doping then I'm laughing, I know they're either stupid, lazy or trying to compensate for something they feel they're lacking.

Name a boxer approaching the limits of the strength they can achieve just through strength training alone? Most boxers strength training programs are laughable already, that's why someone like JMM can make gains so quickly when he actually starts training properly with heavy weights, even at an advanced biological age.
Boxing and it's fans are hilarious, steroids are always the answer

Caffeine isn't banned in strong doses, it used to be a long time ago but now you can have as much as your heart can handle.

Creatine is dick all compared to anadrol. Power is a big part of boxing, I agree skill is important but don't underestimate power.

If noones taking it then why do all these leagues and organizations allow 4:1 test levels? Just because right? Steroids aren't always the answer but don't be so naive man.

Strength underpins power, and hypertrophy underpins strength. Steroids primarily facilitate strength gains through their impact on protein synthesis.
Does a boxer want to put on mass and move up a weight division? As that happens strength to weight ratio and power to weight ratio decreases. In a weight class sport steroids are going to do more harm than good, and even if the substances are being used purely for recovery they are unnecessary if the athlete is eating right and using scientifically backed recovery methods. If you're using substances to increase aggression... caffeine and some adderall is going to be more effective at stimulating the CNS than the purported effects of steroids on aggression.
Power to weight ratio is key (relative power), not absolute power.
