Oh yeah and lets not forget that froch uses dirty tactics. Have a look at the ward fight, robert mckracken (froch trainer) says to froch after the eighth round to start fouling ward.

And he was using his forearms in the first groves fight because the baby wasnt getting his way.

Groves is gonna KTFO dirty froch. Cant wait

Because of the way he acted before and after the fight.

A lot of British people were never big Froch fans anyway.

If Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble were in England and were fighters, with clubs in hand, they'd easily be the vision of the ideal English boxing super stars.
100s of thousands of drunken Brit crammed into stadiums each time they fought.
Cave man style best describes the British boxing sensibility and attention span.
I mean, in over 100 years in the sport, never has a Sugar Ray Robinson emerged from this dank and dark little island, but like Carf Froch, there has been a multitude of Fred Flintstones.

Same reason they went ape **** over Hatton and Price

Froch is Polish so they shunned him for a true Brit

How does that work with Calzaghe been Italian then? Aren't there more Polish people than Italian people in England? yet Calzaghe is the most revered brit fighter since Jamacan-Canadian Lennox Lewis.

All UK fans did NOT love Froch before the fight. You have just made that up to suit your point. I personally don't 'love' any fighter. I love boxing and always want the best man to win, no matter what nationality or race he is.
There is nothing sadder than some groupie that hangs off the dick of one fighter. Unless your a kid

From what I could tell, majority of the crowd were with Froch all the way up to the post-fight interview. It wasn't the stoppage itself that made people take against Froch, it was his justification of it and repeated winging about not being shown any respect. If he'd admitted that he'd benefited from a questionable decision and congratulated Groves on a decent display there probably would not have been quite the clamour for a rematch - it would have been accepted by the public as just another "British stoppage" and everyone would have moved on.

There is a lot of truth in what you say and I'm from Uk.

On the British forum when talking about going to the event the main topic of discussion are "where is the nearest pub" "are we allowed to drink in the stadium" by the time they actually get to the main event most are wasted and haven't got a clue what they have just watched.

Proof of this is the utter shite that is posted the next day :yep

A few points to be made.

    1. Froch has never been "loved" by the British public. There's a reason most people outside of boxing have never heard of Froch until recently. He's never had the following of all those that came before him i.e Khan, Calzaghe, Hatton, Lewis, Bruno, Naz, Benn, Eubank. He's not the most charismatic and comes off as arrogant. He's outspoken about his "superior" genes. Brit's don't like smugness, we like humility.

    2. As pointed out, those that DID turn on Froch did so because he was saying things like "the ref saved Groves life" :huh Now I get that he's not going to say something like "Yea it was a BS stoppage" but come on, let's not get carried away.

    3. I've noticed with comments like SweetSciGuru's some of the Yanks are jealous that this fight is as big as it is. The fact is this fight is the biggest in the UK for something like 70 years. No idea why. Seems to have gone viral for some reason and it's all over the national news like I've never seen before. We don't turn up in our 100,000's to cheer on cave men, you just jealous :deal

Others have touched on it, but to be slightly more detailed: I think all but the most ardent Froch fans were so angry at the stoppage (I was fuming for days) that for Carl to make it out to be the right decision, when the feelings were still so raw, was about the biggest PR blunder he could have made.

Fans are fickle and many simply followed him because of his success and when a potentially better Brit came along jumped ship and jumped on the Groves band wagon.

Froch has never really been loved by the British fans though, he's always been a bit arrogant and never had the personality or the showmanship to endear him to the casual fans. What he did after the first fight was a PR nightmare, but then he's never been a humble man it's that intense self belief to the point of self delusion that has allowed him to be successful where his physical tools have been lacking.
