was it just me or were hbo announcers worshiping groves performance tonight?

What was the HBO scorecard prior to the stoppage?

I think HBO had Groves up by one. Groves did well early and HBO reflected that. HBO however had acknowledged the fight had turned and that the body work put in by Froch seemed effective and Groves wasnt liking it at all.

The HBO guys sometimes overstate and get excited as a style, with the intent to generate and keep interest in the proceedings but I did not think it was particularly biased.

Granted, I only lend them half an ear and am mostly paying attention to the fighters and listening to what the mics pick up in the ring so I might have missed something.

    i believe it was

    1: GG
    2: GG
    3: GG
    4: GG
    5: Froch
    6: Froch
    7: Froch

    67-66 Groves.

Stark contrast to the british commentary.

British commentary was appaling lastnight, they had Froch winning almost every round & they where fixated with Froch's jab even though he was getting out jabbed from the 3rd round onwards. Paulie Malignaggi made some good comments which Jim Watt agreed with but that other twat just disagreed with Malignaggi on everything just for the fun of it.

    opinions were mixed.

Jim Watt on commentary had froch comfortably ahead. 5r-2r i think. It's a shame McRory wasn't back in the co commentators chair or they just left it to Malignaggi.

Me and my mates thought the first 4 rounds where dead heats, we could see the judges scoring them either way depending on what stood out to them, last 3 was 2-1 to froch looked like Groves might of been taking the 8th until the stoppage.

Jim Watt didn't sound like the president of the George Groves Fan Club this time around, which was nice.

HBO commentators seemed a little on Groves' jock for the first few rounds, although he was edging them, but then the commentators went overboard on Froch's performance in rounds 4-6.

That is something I have noticed with HBO commentary. It tends to snowball in one direction or another. Sometimes RJJ brings it back to earth, sometimes not.
