    :yep

But at the same time, I also didn't know where to consider Calzaghe a part of the whole 'best British' boxer thing specifically because he had Italian ancestry. I'm fair, but I'm firm. :boxer

But regardless of that, I still think that Calzaghe's resume is equal to Lennox's in terms of opposition beaten and fought. No more, no less.

Lewis destroyed past their prime legends, Calzaghe won split decisions against them while getting knocked down.

Yes, and hurray for fascism and capitalism, our saviors and defenders of human dignity.

I'm done, this is a boxing forum after all, and I have little time for further discussion here.

    Turpin, Buchanan, etc?

Also everyone who supports UKIP, you've lost it. The most chauvinistic, anti-democratic, xenophobic party.

Clearly, your man bazza has never read a book in his life. Do you know what Marxism means?

Lol, so much hate in your post. Lewis was losing on all the cards and was too scared to rematch Vit (who'd taken the fight on 1 week's notice). Calzaghe was avoided by Hopkins and Jones early on, and beat everyone else that was put in front of him. Eventually he schooled the dirty Hopkins in the US of all places.

Are you kidding? Carl Froch's record is much better than Lennox's.

Froch has fought lots of top-level contenders and title-holders in their primes. Lennox was a cherry-picker: he waited for Tyson, Holyfield, and Tony Tucker to get old and drug-dependent until he fought them. He was afraid of Chris Byrd and even a shot Larry Holmes. He waited for David Tua to get fat, and only then fought him. He got knocked out by two journeymen. Froch was never stopped. I could continue for a long time but I'd rather not.

    no.

    Lennox Lewis
    Chris Eubank
    Nigel Benn
    Joe Calzaghe and many more

    Froch would have to :

    A. Avenge his defeat to Ward & Unify with Bika
    B. Move up to 175 beat Stevenson/Hopkins/Kovalev

    You must have mistaken me.

I don't love Vitali the Jew lover as a person...

I love Vitali as the fighter who destroys all comers.

    Fundamental difference.

I could care less if Putin order's an assassination team to snub Klitschko out of existence. Klitschko is retired, and has already fulfilled his purpose in life. :hey

You really are failing to understand that for me, their only worth is beating up fighters and dispelling the tired notion of black athletic superiority. I could care less about anything else.

In actuality, I hope Putin does send an airstrike to where Vitali, and Poreshenko might be residing in Ukraine. To hell with him, and his younger brother.

But as athletes you cannot take anything away from them, even if they are despicable human beings.

hope that actually clears things up. If not, you're probably just a troll account trying to heckle me.

Tyson went to jail before Lewis reached the world stage, a fight before 1992 wasn't viable.

Lewis was WBC Mandatory when Tyson was bumped over him for a shot at Bruno, then Tyson decided to fight Seldon and Holyfield instead, Lewis had to take him to court to try to get his shot at the WBC Belt and Tyson only for Tyson to dump the belt rather than face him.

Tyson was banned throughout 1998 and avoided Lewis from 1999 onward until the money on offer was too big to turn down.

That the fight didn't happen earlier is more the fault of Tyson than Lewis.

Lewis would have fought Holyfield in 1993 if Holyfield hadn't lost to Bowe, they would have fought in 1994 if Holyfield hadn't lost to Moorer. After his loss to McCall, Lewis had to rebuild his career and was in no position to challenge Holyfield. 1999 was the first time both were considered legitimate opponent and got to the fight date without either slipping up. When the fight happened Holyfield was widely recognized as the Heavyweight King and was P4P #3.

Wasn't Lewis's fault that Tuckers best years were in the 1980's when he was still an amatuer or a professional novice. When they fought Tucker was rated #5 Heavyweight.

He was trying to set up a three fight deal with Tyson, Vitali and Wlad Kitschko at the time so wasn't interested in Byrd - that deal fell through. Byrd's own promoters actively sought to avoid making the fight happen.

The fight didn't happen becasue Lewis lost to McCall.

Tua was a mandatory defence and rated #1 by the WBC and IBF at the time, not Lewis fault that Tua couldn't control his weight.

And beat them both in the rematch - Rahman more emphatically than McCall who shouldn't have been anywhere near a ring at the time but we can blame Don King for that.

Lennox Lewis was the biggest star. Won over the Americans and became the top dog of the Heavies....a few embarrasing losses and question marks left when he retired...but probably transcended the sport more than the others.

Froch has faught the best competition, consitantly. His record has all the top names of his division and has proven himself to hardcore boxing fans again and again. Might not be the most charming bloke, but an entertaining boxer who has given us some great moments.

Calzaghe is one of those unfortunate blokes who had all the possibility to beat his contemporaries but left it too late to take the big, legacy fights. He started to answer the question marks in impressive style (Lacy, Kessler) and his wins over Bika, Hopkins have been given greater value with time (Hopkins wasn't washed up, Bika was no slouch). He just falls short of the others because he left it all till the end.
