Am I the only one that got genuinely annoyed at this?

There were 80,000+ fans in attendance, millions of global viewers, he'd be a clear favorite to beat whoever wins, and it'd have been a perfect start to build interest in a Froch rematch (all it'd have taken is one line at the postfight press conference).......

    And the dude stays home?

Nevermind that his stablemate was fighting and he could've gone to support him, the bigger question is "what the hell is Ward thinking?" in regards to his own career.

    What's his team thinking?

I'm not hating, just frustrated. He's a P4P talent that's doing seemingly everything to ensure he's the easiest man in the sport to ignore. If that's his call, that's fine- just don't complain that the offers aren't being brought in by the truckload to fight you!

Ward has already beaten Froch. Why would he travel all the way to UK to attend his fight? That would look weird IMO.

Also the fight was artifically overhyped. Groves hasn't shown anything substantial prior.

    This.

Ward is the SMW king, what message does it send out if he's chasing someone he already beat comfortably and took the title off?

Clearly, that's the line of logic Andre's following.

Which is fine. It's just laughable that he'll complain about top competition ignoring him while at the same time doing everything to ensure he'll continue being ignored.

If he wants to stay at home and not pursue matches and get his face out there (which helps to sell them), he shouldn't ***** when people aren't beating his door down with offers.

That he's interested in making big fights? You know, prize fighting?

I don't get it.. You answered your own question in your previous post?

See where I highlight in bold:

What are we discussing here? We both seem to be agreeing with the same person..

I'm agreeing that it's Andre's thought process, but criticizing it because I think it was an extremely foolish decision if he's serious about maximizing his career.

It wouldn't rub me the wrong way if Andre didn't routinely complain about not having good offers to fight and the division ignoring him.

If you're going to complain about something, you should at least be proactive in solving the problem yourself.

By not going to the fight, which was a huge event with potential ramifications on his own future career, Andre isn't being proactive about a situation that he nonetheless complains about.

LOL. If Froch were interested in rematching Ward he would have had Hearns send Ward a ticket and airfare.
Froch is interested in facing Ward again. At this stage he wants to win all of his fights and retire with no additional loses.
Aside from being there because of a possible rematch why would Ward want to be sitting in an arena with 80,000 drunken Brits?

That is pretty gentlemanly of Andre to accept a polite ignoring so graciously. Especially since the fight hadn't happened yet when he decided not to go and Groves could've won.

But hey, no worries. Maybe he was able to convince the waiter at Applebee's to buy a couple tickets to his next fight, whenever that may be.

I hear the coutrysides of the UK and Ireland are beautiful this time of year. Sheep grazing on the greenest grass covered hillsides.......300++++ y/o cottages line the country rds 1/4 mile apart.

A friend of mine is a Dr who practices Eastern Medicine as well, and he's always talk about flying my family over to france and talking up the UK and her beauty.

Ward couldve flown his whole family there, and shown his children their Irish heritage after the fight. A perfect escape from the perils of modern Americana surrounded by ghettos. :rofl

Berman Stiverne was there, just because he could be. Thinks he'll be going to see DelBoy and Fury go at it too.:thumbsup

Ward is irrelevant in the boxing world. He offers nothing. He is too much of a risk, its laughable as he also has barely any fans.

As a fan of both Froch and Ward I have to fully agree with you. His management and promotion already sucks and is doing a terrible job promoting him despite his major victories and accomplishments. It could be that his legal problems with his promoter is what's putting him off. This is definitely frustrating and sad.

Who cares about Ward? The guy has fought twice since 2011. Froch needs to focus on fighting either GGG or Chavez Jr both fights would be huge and make tons of money. Ward isn't going to make Froch any more at this point and I doubt the fight would be any different.

Ward is a warning story to any boxer. A combination of elite skills, a boxing style not popular with the casual fans and a promoter that seems to hate him. For any fighter to fight Ward they would have to travel to Wards backyard in a fight they had very little chance of winning or a very poor payday in comparison to other options. So no one will choose to fight Ward and Ward cant really choose to fight anyone. If this status quo doesn't end then all we see is the slow and painful end to an elite boxers career and that is not good for anyone.
It also does not help when so many fans of both Ward and Froch seem to take any chance to belittle the other fighter. I see so many Froch fans dismiss Ward and pull him down but to do so just makes Froch look bad as ward beat him. And vice versa i see so many Ward fans call Froch a caveman or B level yet thats Wards biggest win, so to belittle Froch is to belittle Wards resume
