    Sammy The Rochford Sheik. Mandell has an excellent resume ,he lost his title to one of the lesser thought of champions Al Singer , by 1st round ko.
    Singer has a unique distinction that still holds today,I believe,he won and lost the title, both by one round kos.

    There were rumors the fight with Singer wasn't on the level (Mandell having been drugged, etc), and the betting was strange too. There was a lot of talk in newspapers after the fight. No actual evidence, though.

    T, these guys were before my time. The first coming champion my dad took me to see was my first main event at the ancient St. Nicholas Arena
    where I saw the future LW great Beau Jack...The young Beau Jack is still
    the most action packed fighter I ever saw....
