It should have been declared a no contest and Vetyeka should have retained his title.

Having said that, I think it was definitely a headbutt, not a punch.

Vetyeka got handled by the powers-that-be in boxing.

Dont see the problem. The first 2 rounds were close cos Donaire was bothered by the cut, round 3 he wins clearly and round 4 he dominates and drops Vetyeka. Had the fight gone on he probably would have stopped him.

Following the rules, it goes to the scorecards cos it was a headbutt and as Donaire won 2 rounds + KD, he won. No controversy here.

Vetyeka is a tough customer. Knockdown was so-so. Vetyeka did not appear hurt at all. Would love to see the rematch.

Except that... It was NOT a headbutt.

Donnaire needs to get over his dangerous habit of relying on his big-punch. That might have got him by at 122 but he will get caught out by the bigger guys at 126.

He must get back to working harder to win runds and put points in the bank if he is to succeed at 126.

He didnt do himself any favours playing fast and loose with his head and elbows. He gave them a stick to beat him with. All he had to do was play safe, jab, keep it long - time was on his side.

Whatever the reason for the cut, the way the whole thing was handled was shady as hell, I agree.

Gotta gives props to Donaire though for requesting a rematch without waiting for his opponent to demand it from him...

I don't know if I'd call it crooked and I got the feeling Donaire was looking for a way out but I don't know.

I do know it was a very unsatisfactory ending and a rematch wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Walters-Gradovich on the undercard with the winners meeting would be a great idea.

Had the fight continued Vetyeka might of upset Nonito. The cut was in a pretty bad spot tho so it was essential Nonito was able to drop Vetyeka before the fight was stopped cuz Nonito was losing the fight before the knockdown.
