Why is Ward not willing to travel outside USA to make a big fight?

Ward is the Champion and doesn't need to go anywhere. The guys wanting to take the championship need to come to him, its that simple, yes he has a negative boring style, but so does Mayweather and he has plenty of supporters. Ward is similar without the ahole personality traits.

The "champion" these days seems to be the fighter who generates the most fan interest. Here it was Froch, Groves. Groves did most of the work as he came off as a real heel but also kind of funny. He also had a great first fight performance. Ward needs to understand that money is the new champion and he will make the most money by travelling to England to defeat Froch yet again.

 

Funny you made this topic, I was coming home from the Airport the other week and my cab driver was saying that he got offered to fight Andre Ward. However, he had to decline because Andre wouldn't take the test.

 

Same reason Mayweather never had to leave. America is the mecca. Fighters come to America to fight, not the other way around. For what reason would Carl Froch go to Las Vegas to fight in front of 15K Mexican fans when he just fought in front of 80K at home? Because the money and the history is in America. You've made it if you're fighting in America. Just look at two HBO cards ago, a Ukrainian vs. a Turk. Why? Because America is the mecca, it means you've made it. Plus the money is greener.

 

Dude. You realize he would make less fighting in front of 15k people instead of 80k... Also Ward has no draw power. So Froch is more of an attraction and can put more people in seats in the UK, than Ward probably could in Oakland. Pretty pathetic.

 

Ward wont leave Oakland for the same reason Mayweather wont leave Vegas. Theyre scared of losing if they have to fight on a level playing field & not have the security of hometown officiating. Both need to be kicked out of boxing we need fighters not prima donnas
