Smaller men who were forced to get by on guile but were comfortable with it, was my view.

I think Chagaev would be bad trouble for Carnera, mobile but with very solid foundations, two handed, awkward style. Might be very difficult for Carnera, but over fifteen I might favour him to squeak it.

You see Carnera just climbing all over Byrd kindof thing?

I mean mediocre (ie. medium, average, ordinary) relative to all the other champions, linear, alphabet and the outstanding/genuine contenders at heavyweight in history. I don't know exactly how big that group would be.

Possibly. Yeah, that could reasoned, certainly.

If we say there are 150/170 genuinely elite heavyweights, I would place them in or near the top third - so I suppose you could argue them a little bit lower than that and have them somewhere bang in the middle of that - it still make them pretty exceptional as I see it though.

If you favoured h2h a little more strongly, it gets more confusing as always, but I have to believe that Byrd would do well against smaller fighters from generally smaller eras and that Carnera wouldn't be excluded by larger men in later ones.

    Toss up.

I can see a disputed close decision win for either man. I think it would go down similar to the McCline/Byrd fight.

I don't think that Canera was as bad as most people believe, but, IMO, Byrd would decision Primo. It should be noted that Canera's win over Loughran is controversial and considered a robbery by some.

No it wasn't friend. It as a wide decision win that nobody considered controversial.

That's good question. I think Chris Byrd is one of the most skilled guys at HW since Holmes.

More skilled? Hard to find even few names. Tyson had excellent skills, Holyfield too. But it's so hard to compare them. I think Byrd has the best defensive skills in the post-Holmes.
