Byrd wins handily. Carnera was slow and telegraphed his punches Byrd would see them from a mile away and rip stinging counters all night.

I think Primo could handle BYRD, I remember Byrd vs Golota and Oquendo, Primo could box him from the outside and out muscle him on the inside. Its an ugly fight but Byrd was not a puncher and Primo too strong on the outside ...Primo in a close ugly UD

Judging on film, this is my thought. And I don't think Carnera hit hard enough with single shots to stop Byrd in his tracks with one blow.

I just now watched what is available on youtube of the Canera vs Loughran fight. I stand corrected. Canera did seem to use his size and strength intelligently in that fight to score a win over his much smaller opponent. I'd like to see the whole bout. Hmmmm.... I'm not so sure now about Primo vs Byrd. This is a great forum.

Carnera stamped all over Loughran's feet, I believe he broke one of his toes.It was a clear win for Primo from what I have seen and read.
Loughran was 186lbs for the fight conceding 84lbs to the 270lbs Carnera.
Byrd had 43 fights at heavyweight for 25 of them he scaled 210lbs or more, and typically around 215lbs.That' s still a big disparity to 270lbs but significantly bigger than Loughran,by up in the region of 30lbs.

Loughran was a master boxer but essentially relied on his jab, if an average sized heavyweight did tag him clean he could be stopped.
Hamas who was only a pound heavier turned the trick and so did the average hitting Sharkey who was only 10lbs heavier
.Byrd was only stopped by very big heavyweights who could bang, Ibeabuchi at 244.7.5lbs tko'd him,Wlad 241lbs tkod him second time around when he was 35 and on the way out and Povetkin at 226.75lbs halted him when he was 37.Byrd had a decent set of whiskers when he did get tagged .
Carnera was not a banger, and he can't hang with Byrd as a boxer, his own chin was none too clever either. He doesnt beat a 215lbs, prime Byrd.imo.

Byrd outboxed Jameel McCline, who was bigger and more skilled than Primo. I pick Byrd based on this.
