In this video Hearn discuss Froch's options.

From around 11.05, they move onto Ward. He says Ward's not a draw, he would want too much money, it would need to be on PPV in USA and it's not a PPV fight and he's basically not an entertaining fighter.

Also at 21.05, he confirms the Kell Brook- Shawn Porter fight is about done.

Translation: Ward is not a draw so it wouldn't be on PPV and Ward is too greedy.

you're right that Ward isn't a draw. he's more of a cupboard for me.

he could become a shelf in time, but with him having problems with his manager, that doesn't look likely any time soon.

Fighting Ward again would only get Carl schooled again, he has more to loose legacy wise before when he lost to Ward he wasn't well known now if he fight's Ward all the casual fans will be watching and will see him be schooled his standing among the regular public will plummet.

If the outstanding contender doesn't want to fight the champion, that is his prerogative. But it is disgraceful if a man wants to call himself champion while not having any plan to fight the real champion. It's a sham. It's a...a, uh, farce. A, um,...a...flom-er-uh...a...what's a synonym for circle jerk? Help me out here.

Why should he fight ward for peanuts ? Froch deserves a payday I bet he'd barely clear 1 million against ward.

GGG I hope, stevenson and kovalev too strong. popkins too smart.

GGG if he wins hes proven himself against a top fighter in froch,Froch can then retire.

sad state when being considered the best in the world and laying some proof behind the lip service isnt reason enough to fight.

Stevenson is out there for Ward to fight, even at 168 and Kovalev at 175, but Ward is afraid and will only fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges and boxing commission. Ward is boring, let him retire as he might as well do so since he is tied up in court out of greed...............

Froch is 36 years old and has maybe 2 fights left. He needs to be looking at his exit route from boxing and secure himself and his family financially for the future.

So if you was in his Froch shoes would you (or even if you was his promoter what would you advise him to do):

    1. Go to Oakland, fight in front of 5,000 people on a none PPV fight (in either the UK or US) against a fighter who is unwilling to go anymore than 75/25 in his favor, despite the fact he draws poor numbers on TV and has no fanbase. In what will be a tough and boring fight.

    OR

    2. Fight Chavez Jr in Las Vegas in front of a sold out crowd at the Thomas and Mack Centre in a fight that will be on PPV in both the UK, Mexico and USA. Against a guy who's a proven draw with a rapid fanbase and will give at least a 50/50 split. In a entertaining and entirely winnable fight.

If you tell me number 2 you're a liar. Nobody would do that. If Lara beats Canelo in a fight that sends people to sleep Mayweather won't fight Lara- not because Mayweather won't believe he can't beat Lara- because Lara is not a draw.

I always find it remarkable how many people fail to grasp that boxing is a business.
