Martinez has just come off of his sensational one punch KO win over Paul Williams, Hopkins has just dispatched Felix Trinidad via 12th round TKO. Lets take a look at the tale of the tape! Bernard Hopkins: Weight: 160 Height: 6ft1in Reach: 75" Age: 36 Sergio Martinez: Weight: 160 Height: 5ft10in Reach: 73" Age:35 Who would win this epic middleweight showdown? How do you see the fight going down?
B-Hop's got it. Sergio might trouble him early with the speed, but he's too predictable on offense with straight punches for B-Hop and would start getting countered with regularity later in the fight. Think B-Hop would get the stoppage late.
No middle weight below 5.11 is beating Hopkins. Oscar,Trinidad and Wright were all better fighters than Martinez and we know what happened to them. Hopkins by mugging.
Sergio would KO him, but Hopkins would cheat his way to the final bell. Hell, Jermaine Taylor kicked the **** out of Hopkins twice, and Sergio is a much better fighter than Jermaine. Ask Kelly....between beer burps.
Hopkins by UD, 8-4. He does have problems with speed, but he's also just a better fighter than Martinez. And very effective and experienced against southpaws.
Tito wasn't better than Martinez, and he was also a blown up Welterweight. Martinez may have came up from welter and jmw, but he is a legit middleweight.
Martinez quick movement and volume of punches will present a lot of problems for Hopkins . Martinez might be able to steal a decision here .
Martinez pulls this one off.....he dealt with Williams speed. If he approaches Hopkins as Calzaghe did for the full 12 rounds....he pulls it off!!! If he approaches like those who recently fought Hopkins....scared crapless pussies who allow Hopkins to control the pace then Hopkins pulls out an ugly and boring decision!!!
Bernard Hopkins is one unique individual mentally and physically and since winning the USBA MW Title from Lupe Aquino all the way to the shot as number one contender for the IBF Title in 93 and again in Equador in the altitude against Mercado. Ever since and going through the MW series against WBC former Champ Keith Holmes and WBA former titlist Tito Trinidad and why not, WBO titlist Oscar De La Hoya, the record breaking 20 consecutive defenses of the undisputed championship which he lost it in controversy against the strongest package one 160 pounds body could produce, Jermain Taylor and he is at almost 50 now with the guile of the throwbacks like James Toney, going back to Bennie Briscoe, Jersey Joe Walcott, beating the man Kelly Pavlik who beat the man who beat him, beating the man who beat him Roy Jones Jnr, becoming a 3 time light heavyweight champion and about to become undisputed light heavyweight champion cause he's already unified IBF-WBA-IBA Light Heavyweight Champion. Sergio is a great great fighter but Bernard is a Legend maybe cause he lost his pro début or maybe cause he came out of the facilities of Grateford where he spent 50 months and the mean streets of Brownsville, Philly, stabbed twice. I can only see names such as Monzon, Hagler, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marcel Cerdan, JakeLamotta, Tony Zale, Tony DeMarco, Carmen Basillio, Fullmer, Turpin, Graziano along with Bernard.
