Just how good was he? That Jab and Right Hand of his seemed lethal!

How would 'Bad Intentions' fare in today's MW landscape if he was in his prime?

He was very good in prime years, he could box and had decent power. But he had some weaknesses. I think it were his stamina and his questionable chin. Also his prime was very, very short and ended after he was destroyed by Pavlik (whose prime wasn't longer, though)

He was a very good, rangy fighter, that seemed to lack the pop in his punches and stamina in his legs.

In today's division he would be literally the only man I'd think could beat Ward. Literally the only man. He had the range and he was good with dirty boxers that didn't punch too hard - case and point : Bhop.

I think he was better than he looked. What I mean is that when I watched him, I wasn't that impressed with him. Early on, he looked good against Bunema, but in most of his fights, I came away underwhelmed. He was sloppy, poor footwork (always backed into the ropes and got himself in trouble), telegraphed his right hand...a lot of technical errors.

But then he had his fights with Hopkins & Winky. No matter what I thought about the decisions (I had draws for Hopkins 1 and Wright, Hopkins in the 2nd fight narrowly), there's no question that he was highly competitive and that they were all close fights.

Given his defensive deficiencies and KO losses later on, I do question how he'd fare against punchers.

Taylor at his prime would be the most athletic middleweight in the division if his prime were today. That's really what he was, an athlete with above average speed and above average power. He was a bit wild, but also had a mean streak pre-Pavlik where he would be more than willing to mix it up. His awkward style made for some ugly fights when he was being pushed as the next thing (vs. Winky and Hopkins), but we all know now to even be competitive with either tells you he wasn't a pushover.

Taylor at his prime would beat most MW, but he would not last against Chavez Jr, GGG or Martinez. I could see him beating Quillin, and that would be about his limit.

    He was very, very good.

A bit chinny, and tended to gas, but when he was on, he could dominate long stretches of a fight.

Unfortunately, in keeping with the last impressions being the lasting impressions, must people remember him horizontally.

Im not sure he was as good as the Hopkins win suggests. He beat a possibly drained at MW Hopkins, in fights where Hopkins finished the stronger.
Then after that it was a draw with LMW Wright, former WW/LMW Spinks, where some felt he lost, a win over Ouma where he didnt look amazing and a loss to Pavlik not all in that order. He then tried to go to SMW where he lost more than won.
When you see how a hydrated Hopkins looked against Pavlik who twice beat Jermaine, I think he may have got Hopkins at the right weight at the right time, as I wouldnt think he would have won at LHW.
Still thats all just my opinion.

Still did like Taylor and enjoyed his career. I was a fan

In this era, Taylor would have a chance at being champ again and I would favour him, due to size over many MWs of today in his prime

    Sounds like an educated opinion.

Styles make fights and I think that Jermain Taylor may just simply have been all wrong for Bernard Hopkins. He could also have been suffering from being drained as you mentioned. Sadly Jermain Taylor never had no one else's number so he goes down in history as just some middleweight champion that beat Hopkins a couple of times.

Only fighter to drop Pavlik, and also for a long time the only to drop Froch.

pretty damn good. He was competitive against everyone, but never really excelled. He couldn't make a fight, but he was never ever outclassed in the ring. And he fought some terrific opposition.

Eh?? Don't you mean Groves was dropped by Anderson?

Froch's first ever knock down was via Taylor

    Who is Anderson?

Taylor is credited as being the first to drop him. Groves the second.

Froch was knocked down late in the third round, the first time he had ever been down in his career.

Yet again all roads lead to Calzaghe.

You should have researched Jermaine's career more thoroughly, especially since your undermining his two wins over Nard, due apparently to Nards weight issue's.

If you actually followed the sport in real time, instead of looking at weigh in weights on Boxrec, you'd know more about Jermaine and weight.

You are so insecure. Grow up and move on.
Researched more thoroughly? Well lets have the break down from you. This will be good. Tell me what is incorrect, which will be even more amusing.
