Cotto doesn't look that much physically smaller than Martinez now...

their styles are completely different though

margarito and pacquiao have more in common in terms of styles

    cotto can't handle volume....

martinez is not a volume guy....

he stands off and takes his time..... cotto could dictate the pace in this fight.

I agree, different styles, but my response was to a poster saying size was not a factor.

I agree. The size difference is not all that great.

The problem is, Cotto has struggled and been outboxed by low volume punchers too (Clottey, Mayweather).

Volume won't be his problem in this fight. Size, accuracy and power will be. If Sergio is more than a shell of himself, it's going to be a long night for Cotto.

Cotto is more technically sound than Martinez and Martinez has been outboxed before against technical guys for stretches. Like I said, I expect both guys to try to box when the fight starts and Cotto having more success as Martinez's mobility is hampered due to his knee. And at some point, Martinez will realize that he won't be able to win by just boxing and will go for broke and start walking Cotto down. And once Martinez starts landing some of his power shots, Cotto will feel them and eventually succumb to Martinez's power.

Now that he can't wear his brace, Cotto may not make it out of the 3rd round.
Sergio could turn into the pressure fighter that he was in the second Williams fight to get him out early, he might have done that before the brace issues.

Sergio wants the adulation and credit, so I believe he's going for a highlight reel KO early.

Pablo Sarmiento was studying the 4th round knockdown by Pacquiao on 24/7, Gabriel Sarmiento who orchestrated the Williams KO is back with Maravilla. I think Martinez is telling Cotto 9th round over and over again to throw him off of his real intent.

Cotto, will win the first few rds comfortably...I'm sure Sergio will step his game up shortly after....Sergio is going to have to move a lot...and thats going to bring a lot of different effects to the surface. Cotto, has the boxing ability to show case his skills and be effective with his selection of punches. I believe this fight is very winnable for Cotto...Cotto by decision !

So what if Maravilla and Margo are the same size they fight nothing alike. There are more chances of Cotto pushin Maravilla back than Sergio physically pushing Cotto back. Margarito had a harder time pushing Cotto around in the rematch. And size doesn't matter or else Cotto wouldn't of blasted Rodriguez and Foreman out with ease.

Sergio just has far more skills than Cotto. If he is anywhere near 80% he trashes him.
