Yeah, it would be pretty damn shocking and amusing if trainers actually were blatently honest in the build up to matches. If they were they wouldn't really be doing their job though.

before rd 12 of martinez-chavez, roach actually told the interviewer that Sergio's handspeed was too much for Julio to handle..Thats one statement full of sincere honesty right there..

I remember that clearly. Yes, trainers have to pump there fighters up and play mind games with their opponents, which often gets the bullsh!t flowing pretty good. Preicting brutal knockouts doesn't hurt ticket sales either. Roach is pretty honest at times, but I feel this chin/power statement does smell like manure to me:good

Canada Referee (Michael Griffin) will be the 3rd man in the ring for Martinez vs Cotto.

From tonight just after the FS1 boxing card:

Roach always talks a lot of bull****, and yet from watching him over the years I've developed a sense of when he actually believes what he is saying and he does seem to feel Cotto will be able to knock Martinez out. :think

If Roach thinks Cotto hits harder than Chavez Jr... wouldnt Roach know more about it than any of us? He's the one holding the mitts and putting on the pads for his athletes to punch at for his gym workouts.

You are right on track IB. Roach has spotted some things about both fighters that will become the cornerstone of the game plan that he has put together for Cotto to use. If Cotto and Roach are on the same wave length, then they have a better than average chance of beating Martinez.

If cotto moves around like he used to and boxes Martinez, then I can see a good result for them.

This is shaping up to be a great fight :thumbsup:deal

Yes, for a few sessions in between Fritz and deciding on Stewerd. He had some interesting takes on Wlad. I remember him saying that he really felt Wlads confidence was shattered as a fignter at that time. He said he told Wlad he was the most physicly talented fighter he'd ever seen, amd Wlad replied with somethimg like "Yeah, if only I could fight". Interestimg stuff yet kind of sad. Regardless of whether someones a fan or not, gotta admit it took a lot of determination and courage to come back from those depths.

I should add he said Tyson was a quicker, more explosive puncher. Then he said in terms of shear impact, Wlad hits harder.

I was thinking that if he hadnt of held the pads, he would still have a god idea who had better power, but this seals the story as true and valid. Thanks for updating me :)
