I appreciate this guy a heap. But to be honest I haven't seen a lot of his fights. His crafy, experienced style gets him by against some dangerous opponents of late, but could you recommend some (perhaps earlier) fights that you consider exciting? Trinidad fight was my highlight thus far, although one sided, it was so complete and it's slow rise from potential competition to domination was seamless.
The Echols rematch was a fun foulfest. His domination of Glen Johnson was fun to watch. I enjoyed both Pascal fights. The first Mercado fight was a pretty good fight, and competitive. The rematch was an ass-kicking.
Karo Murat was a good one. Then he had two wars/brawls with Pascal. Both fights had plenty of drama. And any true boxing fan should enjoy his dominant wins over Trinidad, Pavlik and Tarver. The cherry on the top for those 3 was that they were all the favourites heading in. :yep And i always liked the first Mercando fight.
The Pavlik fight was a msterclass. Very entertaining. Johnshon was good. He had crazy stamina back then and threw all sorts of punches like lead uppercuts. Joe Lipsy was another good one. Great knockout.
in his early thirties when prime when he could do 12 rounds full pace. by the time he was in his forties, beatable by fairly good fighters, he was slowing, spoiling, treading water for air, requiring a slow-middle pace in order to last the distance.
both Mercado fights, both Echols fights, Trinidad fight, G.Johnson fight (those last 2 were awfully one-sided, but still a joy to watch) are the best i've seen off the top of my head. I thought the Pavlik fight was pretty damn good too, although again it was very one-sided. Oh and the first Pascal fight deserves a mention, even though it didn't have all that much sustained action, it was exciting to see BHop get up from 2 kd's and outfight Pascal down the stretch.
The ones mentioned were all good fights but if you want to see a real good Bhop fight check out his fight early in his career against Gilbert Baptist, it was a real good action fight.
