Most of the men who Tyson fought were larger than himself. The ones who gave him trouble were usually on the larger end of the scale though, ie. Douglas, Tucker, Smith, Ruddock, Green, etc.. Of course of the five men listed, at least three of which were fighting to survive more so than win, and didn't do much to him.

holy crap! one more time! douglas:tyson was drinking drugging not training and saw him as no threat(no mentally up,motivated)being 6'4" was not it.__smith:suffered a rib injury in 1rds and ran or clinched the WHOLE FIGHT.how can height be a factor when smith was holding tyson close as a prom date?___ruddock:never kept tyson on the outside, fought toe to toe nullifying height.tyson head hunted, did not throw combos, and had no head movement, thus ate more shots, plus razor was strong and hit like hell, mike still won 2 fights and broke his jaw.____green:hugged and ran, period and had a great chin, did not use his height at all,i own all these fights and have watched them many times.tubbs, biggs, ribalta, thomas, williams, holmes, steward, bota, golata, bruno etc all big men,you are dead wrong.in fact berbick said he hated fighting shorter men.

He didn't struggle with those type of guys at all. Douglas moved around fluidly. Tall stiff guys get felled easy.

Being tall doesn't mean you can fight, you gotta have skills, stamina, a good , chin, etc, ih height meant everything ed too tall jones would have been heavyweight champion..

Foreman was only 217-220 pounds in his prime for 6'3.5.
Ruddock was 228-238 pounds ripped muscular fighter for about 6'3" in his prime.
Bruno was 247 pounds ripped muscular guy for about 6'3" in his prime against Tyson.
Foreman's strength? The boxing isn't poerlifting or weightlifting.
But i think a 6'3.5" and 217-220 pounds guy is too skinny for world class weightlifting or
    powerlifting.
But Foreman was stronger than Frazier because Frazier was weak as hell.
Check Frazier's pathetic weightlifting performance out in a The Superstars contest.
The boxing isn't about strength. The boxing fighters are one of the weakest
    athletes.The weightlifters,powerlifters,sprinters,football players,baseball players
    shot putters,bodybuilders,strongmen etc are stronger.

Bad example... but Tyson didn't have too much trouble with any fighter as a pro until he faced Buster Douglas... who happened to be 6'4". Almost everybody Tyson fought was taller. Tyson knew how to fight taller fighters with longer reaches... since most HWs had this "advantage" over him.

Foreman had a big frame though. He was 224 Lbs. in the rematch with Frazier... so was Frazier, but it looked like man vs. child in the ring. Foreman had the frame for a solid 230-235 Lbs. back in those days. Years later he got down to 235 Lbs. when he fought Qawi and looked good. He said it took too much out of him so he was about 20 Lbs. heavier in his next fight (and looked overweight). Old Foreman lifted weights and was a very strong guy. 20" biceps on the 40 year old Foreman.

Powerlifters don't fight. A 217 Lb. George Foreman would have knocked a prime Ted Arcidi, Bill Kazmaier, Ken Patera, Superstar Billy Graham, or any of those big MOFOs out in the 1st round... obviously!

How many guys named Tucker, Smith, and Green did he fight? Those guys gave him about a minutes worth of trouble if you add all 3 of them together. Ruddock gave Tyson a little bit of trouble and gets more respect than the 3 I mentioned above because he actually was trying to win. Bruno fought well for a few minutes of the fight and got stopped (1st fight).

The Truth wasn't very durable and he wasn't quite the fighter he was in '85 when he fought Tyson in '89.

Carl Williams looked good vs Holmes but who else? He beat the crap out of Bert Cooper who was made to order and really not anything like Tyson except for similar height. Cooper's reach is much longer and Tyson was much better overall. Ok that was a bit off topic.

Williams was stopped early by Mike Weaver, he lost a decision to Tim Witherspoon, he showed up lazy vs. Jerry Jones and lost a decision. He gave Morrison trouble but was stopped. He was stopped by Bruno. Yes, he was past prime for some of these losses. Yes, he wasn't even as good vs. Tyson as he was vs. Holmes. Holmes said it best when he said Williams best performance was vs. him... When did he ever look that good before or after?

I liked Williams but he was pretty much a disappointment.

fan man you really are reaching! williams beat cooper(who gave many good heavys a war) "limitations of Holmes?" i think you be hard pressed to find many that would not consider holmes a good if not great champ! tyson was only 5'10" 6 inches isn't enough! would you say Ali never fought anyone good over 6'9"? of course not! your argument is ridiculous.

___my point is that, williams,if tyson was troubled by reach, would have been a nightmare for mike.6'4" 84" reach with a good jab and stick and move style.mike killed him.that is all.

...but kicking The Truth's ass doesn't really mean a whole lot. Yes, I do think Williams could have continued, but for how much longer?
