Seems a little backwards for the champ to be getting the lesser purse

    What do you guys think

He had the leverage but just agreed to all of Cotto's demands ..**** that draw argument the champion always deserves the better share !Popularity doesn't help you in the ring !

Belt is just a belt. Cotto name is what will draw the gate and majority of PPV sales, so ofc hes going to get more money. I feel bad for Martinez because I think hes the better fighter and better man, but it is what it is.

Always remember the golden rule of boxing - he who brings the gold makes the rules.

blame martinez' poor management. he should be a much bigger star than what he is at the moment. his resume is very impressive and ppl still don't know about him.

Sounds unfair, but its fair. Cotto sells tickets. Especially in New York

Yeah but here in the city there are a bunch of Proud Puerto Ricans. The fight is an easy sell out in MSG, and wouldn't be anywhere else.

Martinez did fight in front of 50k in Argentina I don't think Cotto would ever draw a crowd like that he's no. Trinidad

He said he told his promoter to agree to all of cotto's terms just to get it done.

$1.5m is big money for Martinez.
Cotto is getting more for the simple reason that he is the draw. He is also taken the bigger risk. Even infront of 50K in Arg. he probably made a lot less than this.

Has Martinez never made over a million before??? I'm sure he will also get a big percentage of the ppv though
